    Dyson V6 Total Clean review

On the 29th November I bought something I said I'd never have - A cordless Dyson. I've never bought into the hype for them and wasn't very impressed with the last stick Dyson I'd had encounters with - A DC35. Anyway, given I'd got such a bargain on my mispriced DC55 Total Clean the week...

    Dyson DC55 total clean BARGAIN

Just thought I'd share my good luck with you all..... I've had a DC55 Total Clean model before, but after a few months I sold it on and bought something else. Here's the review I made of it anyway - http://www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?28512 Recently I've been hankering...

Brand New DC04 All Floors in Box.

Vintagerepairer I can't thank you enough for confirming about the filters!! I thought I was going mad for a moment lol I KNEW I'd worked on a DC04 that didn't have a washable filter. You're right about them having to be replaced every 12 months... I've found a clearer image of the non washable...

Brand New DC04 All Floors in Box.

Gawd. I've spent hours on the net trying to find evidence of a DC04 that didn't have washable filters. I remember I once serviced a red and purple one as I remember at the time telling the person when the filer needed changing they could buy a washable upgrade. Here's an example of the style of...

Brand New DC04 All Floors in Box.

The very first DC04 machines didn't have washable filters. You had to throw them away and buy new ones. Similar principle to DC01 AND DC02 machines.

Example of an earlier version with the black dot on the clutch and multiple stickers advertising the features

Brand New DC04 All Floors in Box.

That's not an early early version. It doesn't have stickers stuck all over it advertising the blockage removal ports / self adjusting head. The clutch has a little plastic arrow sticking out of it to show what setting it's on... Early machines had a black dot instead of the plastic finger notch...

How long to fill a bag?

Using my Sentria2 as a daily driver I fill a bag in 6 - 8 weeks. Thats filled to just above the fill line.

My bargain Kirby - and my 'ultimate' rebuild

Its now just a case of waiting for the parts to arrive in the post! Will take a while given how far they have to come. So far I've spent £87 on parts with the postage. This will be a machine I'll run alongside my Sentria2 for less nice jobs such as the car and cleaning for an elderly relative...

My bargain Kirby - and my 'ultimate' rebuild

Amazingly there are no scratches to the metal body of the machine so I'll be able to machine polish that back to looking brand new. With a new bumper trim on and the bag washed it will look factory fresh. Along with the new bearings, new fan, new bumper, new fan case gasket and tech drive belt...

My bargain Kirby - and my 'ultimate' rebuild

And now two questions - First off when I pulled the motor to bis this funky little thing popped out. Looking at a parts break down of the motor (number 11) I've placed it back on the rear bearing the correct way? Also what do you think to the carbon brushes? I've no idea how long they would...

My bargain Kirby - and my 'ultimate' rebuild

So when I got the machine home and tested it, in normal mode it ran fine. When I hooked up the hose it didn't sound too healthy and there was vibration from the fan area. I expected a broken fan. The emptor was full of nails and bits of metal to go with the torn hose from vacuuming up nails...

My bargain Kirby - and my 'ultimate' rebuild

Here is a closer look at the hose.... God knows what they had been doing with it but notice the score marks on the inside where things have obviously gotten jammed on the fan and span inside the hose connector. In one place it has worn right the way through!!

My bargain Kirby - and my 'ultimate' rebuild

So last Sunday a fellow collector messaged me the link to a Kirby on eBay. An Ultimate G Diamond Edition, with all the bits, for a bargain £15 'buy it now'!!! I've never bought anything so quickly in all my life LOL The listing stated that the machine ran fine, however the Tech Drive wasn't...

My Kirby update - a year into ownership...

Please don't think I'm 'having a go' at you sptyks.... I've just never seen a Kirby thats had household use need a new brushroll here in the UK. Even ones that are 25+ years old. Hence I expect my Sentria brush to last 10 - 15 years. And when it does get replaced it will probably still have...

My Kirby update - a year into ownership...

Here are two pics of the brush from the last Legend2 I restored. 25 years old.... was adjusted 80% out. Brushes protruded as much as my Sentria2's do and it cleaned just as well too...

My Kirby update - a year into ownership...

No, I'd never wear a brush roll down to little nubs. Here are a few pics of my machines brush at a year old.... JUST taken them. You can also see how far they protrude the rug plate. The only sign it's even been used is where the belt has ran on the wood. Once the brushes no longer protrude the...

My Kirby update - a year into ownership...

5 to 7 years?! *horrified face* I kept my Diamond Edition for two, possibly three years from it being brand new and the brush showed no wear at all.... and that was with near daily use as we had two dogs at the time. My Sentria II is pretty much a year and shows zero wear. I recently rebuilt...

My Kirby update - a year into ownership...

haha I thought the same James! Can't beat a freshly polished Kirby. Was well worth the 45 mins I sat playing. Gave all the plastic trim bits a wipe over with a damp cloth too and checked the brushroll bearings were clear of threads ect These machines are deffo boys toys I think
