My Kirby update - a year into ownership...

Well.... Firstly I've reported my local Kirby dealer to Kirby UK.... Few of the lies I've been told by the service guy - 1. The machine has a 3 year warranty but after the first year I have to pay call out and labour charges. The 3rd year only covers the motor and tech drive. Kirby UK have...

    Spec's for AEG AG71A

Just realised I ALSO have that Black and Decker machine!!!!! Well, mines black, but essentially the same 18v lithium pet edition. I'll be selling it on ebay as I bought the AEG to replace it. The B&D machine is VERY good for a hand held, and will cope with vacuuming a dirty car without...

    Spec's for AEG AG71A

I have the AEG Rapid Clean and think its a superb machine. Produces very good suction and doesn't loose suction till the container is very nearly full. Once, to test it, I vacuumed two bedrooms, the landing and bathroom with it. It was full afterwards but suction was still strong. When...

My Kirby update - a year into ownership...

Exactly. For me the Kirby works perfectly. Fair enough if I was expecting to use it like a Dyson and keep swapping between the main head and tools every 5 seconds it would be a HUGE pain. But you adapt your cleaning methods to the way the Kirby works and its just as easy, if not easier IMHO.

My Kirby update - a year into ownership...

Okay.... so a few points to clarify.... ----- "theyre not exactly everyday cleaners for anyone who just wants the job done so they can actually go off and live life" ----- I can whip around our house with the Kirby just as quick, if not quicker than I can with any other vacuum. When I vacuum...

My Kirby update - a year into ownership...

Thanks for the info guys. Regarding it still being shiny... I need to sit down and give it a propper polish as I think it's lost some of its luster. However it's only ever been wiped down with a duster so far so it should come up a lot nicer once it's seen a bit of metal polish - I use Autosol...

My Kirby update - a year into ownership...

I've also bought an AEG Rapid Clean. This is so that on day to day 'quick' cleaning I don't have to mess about with the Kirby hose. I now only get the Kirby tools out when I'm doing a BIG clean every other week or so. This saves so much time and makes the Kirby even more of a joy to use as...

My Kirby update - a year into ownership...

NOW HERES THE BIGGEST ISSUE I'VE HAD...... Around two and a half months ago the mains cable developed a fault. If you twisted it in the wrong direction it would cut the power. The break was where I had the cable clipped unto the upper cable grip on the cord hook. I bought a Diamond Edition...

My Kirby update - a year into ownership...

I'm very pleased with myself for keeping it in such good condition. I hate it when things get bashed up. The only real signs of use are light scuffs to the rubber bumper - something that can't really be avoided on a daily driver. I keep telling myself that it's not an issue and that I'll order a...

My Kirby update - a year into ownership...

I've been meaning to do this for some time now. In less than a month my Kirby Sentria2 will be a year old! However the last year hasn't been as smooth as I'd hoped!!! Heres a link to my thread when I first bought the machine - http://www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?23837 So a...

Dyson DC55 Total Clean - Review and impressions

I know the Dyson trade in is just a marketing thing but our local Currys are a bit funny over it. I think they have targets to meet for weighing in scrap appliances for recycling or something so they actually seem to want the trade in machines. Parwaz the DC50 brush bar doesn't have stiff...

Dyson DC55 Total Clean - Review and impressions

Oh and I do love the tool for cleaning under stuff... Whatever it's called. Reach under tool IIRC. Fantastic for getting the dust from under my bed! Just wish the cleaning sweep on it was a bit bigger

Dyson DC55 Total Clean - Review and impressions

Although their Dyson DC07 was getting on for 14? years old, it was in VERY good condition and hadn't seen a huge amount of use. In 14 years the filter had only needed washing about 4 times. Filter is pictured... this is it after not being washed for a year and a half! All they vacuum up is fluff...

Dyson DC55 Total Clean - Review and impressions

At this point my grandad decided they MUST have a new Dyson, something smaller that my nanna would be able to manage. Que their DC50....

Dyson DC55 Total Clean - Review and impressions

After a bit more use.... So today I went and did a deep clean for my grandparents. They're in their 80's and she struggles with her Dyson - They have a DC07 that they bought when they were very first released. I bought her an Oreck once for something lighter but she didn't like it. Anyway she...

Dyson DC55 Total Clean - Review and impressions

Yes yes sptyks we get that you're not a Dyson fan :p The two are clearly VERY different machines due to one being clean air and one being diry air for starters. For me the benefit of having the Dyson for me is that it is much more nimble and compact to use. The benefits of the Kirby are...

Dyson DC55 Total Clean - Review and impressions

Dysonboy - our carpets are plush and we have a premium foam underlay under them. I can feel the Dyson agitating don't get me wrong, it's just nowhere near as much as the Kirby agitates. Parwaz - Our internal doors were fitted after the flooring so they are cut enough to clear the top of the...

Dyson DC55 Total Clean - Review and impressions

All in all it's probably the best Dyson have offered so far. I know I've just poked fun at how little it has picked up, but I honestly didn't expect it to, not given the fact my daily driver has been a Kirby Sentria2 and our carpets are only about 2 years old. I will be keeping it alongside...

Dyson DC55 Total Clean - Review and impressions

At this point I'm starting to think the Kirby may be leaving the house TOO clean. Where is all the real dirt??? The nasty stuff? I've not vacuumed the cats beds for AGES. Time to use the tangle free tool.... BORK!!! Look at all that dander and filth! Vile cats haha

Dyson DC55 Total Clean - Review and impressions

At this point I emptied the machine and gave the house an extra good going over. Under and behind the sofa, the risers on the stairs ect. I even did the car! This is what I got....
