    Santa left a HOOVER

THAT IS SUCH A GREAT FIND! I wish I could find vintage Hoover Convertibles in my area. In two years of active searching on Craigslist, at an annual summer-long rummage sale, at thrift stores, and at many tag sales, I have only found TWO CONVERTIBLES! And both of them were the newer plastic type.

CALLING HOOVER EXPERTS! Restoring a metal-based Convertible!

I have lately been very interested in the procedures for restoring a metal-based Hoover Convertible, specifically the models that do not have a full hood and have a painted base. My first question is, if the paint on the base is "fish-eyed" or has some spots of loss, wear, or chips, can they...

What cleaner is this brush roll for ?

Your pictures of the end caps are blurry, but I would guess that it is from a Canadian or American Hoover. It might even be from a different British Hoover.

    Greasing bearings and brushroll

Here are some tips! Brushroll (1030, U4001, and U4027 ONLY): Set the machine down so it rests on it's handle and bumper and remove the bottom plate by moving the two metal latches on each side out of the way. Next, remove the belt from the fan, making a good note of how the belt was installed...

    All Cleaned Up Hoover 719

I appreciate the advice. Did you first sand down the plastic to remove the gouges and scratches or did the polish take them out immediately?

    Sanitaire 648B brushroll problem

You should check the belt on it. It might be so stretched that it is not spinning the brushroll rast enough.

    JCPenneys Hoover

THAT IS UNBELIEVABLE! I wish I could find Hoovers like that in my area. The only Convertible I have EVER found on local Craigslist was a newer plastic RS Convertible.

    Greasing bearings and brushroll

What model is your Convertible. That would make this question easier to answer. Also, are you planning to grease the motor bearings as well?

I believe that the U4127 was from the late '70s.

    goodwill was good to me

You are very lucky to have found that. I just cannot find any vintage Hoovers like that in my area at Goodwill and other thrift stores. The only vacuum cleaners that I have found were newer machines which often were not in very good condition. GREAT FIND!

    Hoover Convertible U4371-042

I would guess that the U4371 was from the mid to late 1980s. I am not 100% sure, however.

    Hoover Convertible U4413-042

I do not know the exact year of the U4413-042, but I think that it is from the mid to late 1980s.

    PROBLEM WITH HOOVER CONVERTIBLE MOTOR

I have tested the bulb socket with a light bulb tester that was given to me by a vacuum cleaner store and there is no power going to it. I originally thought that there was a problem when I put a new light bulb in it and the light still did not work. Is there a particular device that I should...

    All Cleaned Up Hoover 719

GREAT JOB! It looks very nice! I noticed your orange Custom Convertible and recalled the video which you made on YouTube after you restored it. I am very curious as to what you did to restore it, and specifically, which polish you used.

Hoover Convertible Model 707, newest restoration!

I did notice in your video. . . that the motor was running on high speed. It is supposed to be running at low speed for vacuuming carpets and high ONLY when the hose converter is connected. You should recheck the speed actuator and set it to low speed. Otherwise, it looks very nice!

    PROBLEM WITH HOOVER CONVERTIBLE MOTOR

I have a Hoover Convertible model U4367. While the motor works very well, there is no electricity going through the wires to the light bulb. As suggested by a vacuum cleaner store, I took the motor apart to check the two wires that go from the coil to the light bulb and there appeared to be no...

Success! I wasn't able to find the 3M Brand so I tried the Meguiars Headlight Restoration Kit, which worked very well! Thanks for the advice!

    Polishing a Hoover Convertible Hood

I think I might try it. Do you mean the 3M Headlight Lens Restoration Kit? Are they the same product?

    Polishing a Hoover Convertible Hood

I am looking for some advice on how to shine up a Hoover Convertible's Hood. After sanding it to remove the gouges and scratches, I have tried many polishes and waxes, including Scratch Doctor, Turtle Wax, SEARS Brand Car Polish, and Meguiars Clear Plastic Polish, none of which have been...
