    Convertible snagging rugs

Do you use the height adjustment (norm, high) on the opposite side of the handle release? For medium and high pile carpets, you might want to set the height to high. There could be a problem with the height adjustment lever, which should be an easy fix as long as there are no missing parts.

Proper Orientation of Hoover Convertible Speed Actuator

Could someone please post a picture of how the white speed actuator stick is properly installed on an older Hoover Convertible with a two speed motor? The model I have is a 719, so I would appreciate a picture of a similar model.

    Vintage Vacuums you LUST AFTER!!!!

THE GREAT HOOVER CONVERTIBLE! I just love the metal-based Hoover Convertibles. I really like the older models with the original two-speed motor, but there are a few others that I like as well. I especially like the following models: 65 (why not!) 32 33 34 35 36 67 69 70 574 584 593 704 707 (in...

TERRIBLE SMELL FROM HOOVER CONVERTIBLE MOTOR!

I put in enough oil to fill the hole in the top bearing. If this is too much, should I take apart the motor again and clean it?

Just bought my first vintage vac

I did see the listing on eBay. It looks like the hood and the bag have been replaced. Your problem is probably caused by an incorrect belt. Try using genuine Hoover belts. You should probably also grease the bottom motor bearing. Check out this thread from the Vintage forum archives...

TERRIBLE SMELL FROM HOOVER CONVERTIBLE MOTOR!

I have oiled the top bearing, so it may have run down the armature. Is this dangerous, can it be fixed, or will the smell go away?

TERRIBLE SMELL FROM HOOVER CONVERTIBLE MOTOR!

I recently took apart (and cleaned) the motor of a Hoover Convertible model U4367. I made sure that I put it back together properly. Now, when I use it, although it sounds perfect, there is a very strong electrical burning smell after it runs for a little while. What could this be and how should...

    That Mid '80s Sanitaire Brochure

The 6.5 and 6.7amp motors were most likely the pancake motors, while the 3.5 and 4 amp motors were probably the blender motors. The pancake motors have a loud whine to them while the blender motors are quieter. This is what the pancake motor sounds like (this one is in DYING NEED of a bearing...

    Hoover Cleaner Model S2009

I have never seen a Quick-Broom that says Handi-Vac on it. It appears to match the U4057 and U4101 Convertibles.

    mikes vintage vac collection

Do you hope to get some Hoover Seniors (Convertibles)? Those, in my opinion, were among the best vacuum cleaners of all time!

    That Mid '80s Sanitaire Brochure

One other question: Which of the uprights used the 'blender motor' and which used the 'pancake motor?

    That Mid '80s Sanitaire Brochure

This is interesting! The one thing I really like is that they STILL make them the same way that they did back then. They are the only vacuum cleaners available today that I would recommend to a friend as they are some of the only vacuum cleaners that are built like vintage!

The reason is because the older machines can withstand everyday use much better than the newer machines!
