    Which Kirby do you like.

I particularly like the chequered bag on the conversion. The headlight trim too. It gives it that Classic-Car look.

    Kirby Mod

This doesn't appear to be a quick one-off. The seller doesn't go into details, but I guess it was for use in a Nursing Home, or for those with asthma/allergen concerns? Looks a bit like an evidence-gathering unit from a CSI Crime-scene.

    Kirby Mod

I found this for sale here in the UK. I've not seen this before. Thought you might be interested.

    Any better brushrolls for Kirby?

There are different grades of bristle offered by Kirby. Standard, Firm, and (I think) Softer. I haven't seen any alternatives to Kirby-supplied. I think the need for a Hoover-like Beater on a Kirby Brushroll was/is considered unnecessary. When you watch videos of users demonstrating a Kirby's...

Sheared screw of rear axle on Kirby Classic 1CR

Is the tip of the screw visible on the inside of the housing? If so, pliers/Mole grips might grip the tip. It's a lot of work to dismantle it all again, but it may save you a lot of grief. A very fine drill bit (sewing needle size) in a Dremel will work, with care. Be sure to limit the depth it...

    Kirby Wheel Question

An electric drill works just fine. If you're smart enough to use it properly. You obviously don't use it at maximum revs, maximum torque, with a masonry bit. Nor do you drill as if looking for oil. Now the last word, from LesInUtah: Over to you Les!

    Kirby Wheel Question

Pick the screw head (socket) clean and clear of dirt and rust. A handheld tiny drill-bit will do. Make sure its deep enough to fully accommodate your screwdriver tip. Try a NEW screwdriver (or new tip, if interchangeable) of the right size. Tips do wear, as they're supposed to, and a new one...

Kirby Company sold to Right Lane Industries

The market still appears to be distracted by day-glow green, fluorescent yellow, V9, V10, V11, Bagless, Stick, and Cordless... Function, efficiency, and durability don't appeal anymore. Perhaps Kirby can attract consumers wanting the latest fashion by offering plastic clip-on panels and...

    painting kirby 500 series bumpers

Use Leather Dye. You can colour clear waxes; neutral shoe-polish wax, beeswax, or caranuba wax, with a thimble full of Leather Dye. All leather dyes are available in a wide range of colours, so you'll be able to find a very-close match. They're permanent too. If you use a plastic/vinyl polish...

    3 Kirbys

You'd have more success selling them here, if you listed them here. If someone's already on Facebook, they'd have seen them. If they're not on Facebook, they're unlikely to join just to buy a vacuum.

Free Vacuum Extravaganza in San Diego

I've seen companies who'll sell stuff on eBay for you. They photograph it all, research value, and deal with the buyers directly, and handle postage etc. Of course they take a hefty percentage, but it might be worth looking into? Especially if they'll collect the lot!

Free Vacuum Extravaganza in San Diego

Any "House Clearance" outfit will clear them for you. Those guys have the time, transport, and energy, to clear anything that'll make them money. They often take away scrap stuff as part of their deal. You may even make a buck or two! The vacuums will end up on eBay, Craigslist, Boot fairs...

The Saturday Morning Special: The Electrolux Model 1205 ( Refurbished)

Surely the motors would have been electrically tested as part of the refurbishment programme? And bearings replaced? If they'd put all that work into dismantling, cleaning, replacing trim & accessories, testing for safety, and new packaging, it doesn't make sense to have skipped the motor...

    Postage Due

I doubt the seller will offer that vacuum again at the same price. The seller has postage, return postage, and penalties to recoup. I don't know why couriers don't validate postage before accepting parcels. They only need a set of handheld scales. Post Offices wouldn't allow it over the counter...

    Horsehair bristle inserts

Manufacturers use plastic as a substitute for everything; wood, fabric, leather, metal... We shouldn't be surprised that bristles followed suit. Nylon/Polyester plastic bristles are of course so much cheaper and easier to manufacture. They also appeal to customers who don't want animal products...

    Sanding out scratches on aluminum.

One solution to bring up that blue rubber trim is to use Silvo® Silver Cutlery Polish (less aggressive than Brasso®) or Abro® Headlight Restoration Polish to remove fine scratches and smooth-out imperfections. Follow that with Kiwi® Blue (Scuff) Shoe Polish, or blue Leather Furniture Renovation...

MINT Kirby Classic III on EBay UK

"... The only thing I seem to notice with the Tradition is that many of the original bags have now faded out to a lighter blue than the original, so wonder if you would be dying the bag or using a re-manufactured one?" Madabouthoovers: The blue Tradition cloth bags weren't a dyed fabric in the...

    1205 Cord Rewinder Lubrication

I'd use an aerosol-spray Switch Cleaner - to clean the tracks & contacts. It'll remove oxidation and dirt, reduce arcing and pitting in future, and noticeably improve conductivity. A dry spray-on Silicone Lube (from bicycle/auto shops) will lubricate and protect the spring. Silicone lube leaves...
