Kirby Sentria Review and Design Issues...

I have three Sentria and one Sentria II. The LED headlights are faulty on three out of four. Kirby redesigned their modular LED Control Board but this hasn't improved reliability. They still fail after a very short time. They're expensive items here in the UK. £36 per unit. And they require a...

recondition / replace gaskets, seals, etc

French Chalk does sound better than the grease I’ve been using. There are (new to me) Silicone Dry Lubricants in aerosol cans. Designed for bicycle chains etc. That may be the way to go? Of course, the choice is overwhelming. Each can says something different.

recondition / replace gaskets, seals, etc

Huskyvacs, Could that have been French Chalk? As found in puncture repair kits?

recondition / replace gaskets, seals, etc

Forgot to add... I think it's their RED LABEL grease which isn't suitable for everything. BLUE label is the one I go for. We have a choice of two flavours from Black Swan. I've got a magnifier to read the back of the tin; Black Swan's Silicone Grease is formulated for many plumbing...

recondition / replace gaskets, seals, etc

It does get a bit complicated. There are plumbers products for potable (drinking) water, non-potable (waste), rubber, plastics, silicone... I've checked, and this one [Stock No.4120] is definitely for Rubber and Plastic 'O' Rings, gaskets, washers, and seals. Because it's a Silicone Grease, it...

recondition / replace gaskets, seals, etc

I use Black Swan plumber's grease on gaskets. Such as the ring gasket on the Kirby emptor and on hose-ends. Not quite renovation, but it does lubricate them well, prevents pinching/kinking, and drying out. IBAISAIC's product seems to be similar. You'll certainly be able to get plumber's grease...

    Kirby Omega

I totally agree Husyvacs. Its amazing how many people are only too keen to part with all their details for Facebook, Twitter, Apple, Siri/Alexa... Facebook wanted me to send a full scan of my Passport! Our banks won't allow some simple online purchases now, unless you subscribe to Online Banking...

    Clip to hold vacuum cord

I recently learned that you can almost negate the need for a cord-clip, which prevents the flex from being an awkward length and swaying around as you transport or store your vacuum. Take a standard Kirby flex for example; usually 30 feet? If you just wind it around and around, in a large loop...

WOW....polishing a Kirby is a pain this arse.

To answer your question regarding preserving the finish; I'd apply a good automotive liquid wax polish, one which is high in carnauba wax. Carnauba is one of the hardest waxes, when dry. Expensive, but you get what you pay for. It'll reduce oxidation, preserve the shine, and protect against...

Rosie on Gumtree.UK is "selling" her Singer K900 Sewing Machine today. I tried to contact her - nothing concrete. Another hoarder who wants others to admire items they never intend to part with. She won't list her telephone No. No direct email No address She won't call and she takes 13 hours to...

I Need Help Rescuing A Rare Royal Vacuum From St Louis, MO (Please!!!)

Here in the UK we have sellers on a similar site to Craigslist, called Gumtree. Its an eBay-owned spin-off. Sellers sometimes offer remarkable items, at attractive prices, but will never manage to complete the deal, no matter how hard you try. I've offered to pay for post and packing, or to...

    Reproduction Kirby D80 Bag

Have you tried emailing the guy who posted the video? (so many silent filmstars on YouTube. I wonder why they don't just upload three photos to Pintrest?)

Does the outer bag fabric still matter?

Oh yes, I completely agree with you Huskyvacs, the original outer cloth bag needs to be kept, no matter what its condition. In-particularlr the Kirby Tradition bags haven't responded well to washing. Even if we find what appears to be a good one for sale, it often looks much worse up close. And...

    Royal Prince at Goodwill

Our UK equivalent was probably the Hoover Dustette, but I don't think they had revolving brushes? I wish we could buy something this good-looking today. Its gorgeous!

Does the outer bag fabric still matter?

The cloth outer-bags we're all familiar with were originally designed to allow air to pass through whilst still being fine enough to trap the dust within. Outer bags needed to be a specific thread-count or weight. Now that we can retro-fit some earlier machines (such as the Kirby Tradition)...

    1987-1992 Electrolux prolux upriight

Try a Teapot-spout brush, a bottle-brush, or Pipe-cleaners. Fencing wire or straightened wire coat hanger with a loop holding a cloth pad? I had one of my son's Matchbox cars stuck in there. Failing that, take it all apart.
