    Central Vacuum - Pistol Grip

I'm in the process of gathering money to go from my bagless Riccar unit to a bagged MD. Right now I have an RPU-C10 Riccar, 2 motor 240v unit, going to an MD M965h2, another 240v dual motor unit (I have a thing for dual motor units...) largely to go with bags, but I also found there's an even...

Converting a Central Vacuum to use EZ change bags

You do need the bag adaptor, the bag can and will slide off the pipe, the adaptor will actually hold the bag on itself.

Stark/Royal Classic PowerTeam 4650, repair questions

I’ve got a truly beautiful blue one that I bought back in 2005 from Marty Rocha at the LA convention, and one of those red ones fromAlex Braun in 2013. Love both of them!

    Sweeper-Vac "Handette" Model 47

Making the fibers fluffy actually improves the filtration. The fibers were fluffy when the bag was new, but they get all filled with dirt, so you do want to wash it gently in something like Woolite, and I’d recommend doing it by hand, the silkscreen lettering is the most delicate thing about...

A NOS Fantom Has Been Spotted

I do realize this is what they sold for new, and to a large extent that’s why I think it’s insane. I guess I think paying so much for a machine for my collection is nuts. If it’s a brand new, current model and that is the wholesale cost, I can see that, but for a machine that time and the now...

    Are Elites Valuable Now?

Calling Kangaroo Jack! Anyone paying $150 for an old Elite needs the Minogue treatment!    They're fun machines, but I wouldn't pay that even for more rare and desirable machines! I have a couple of Elite machines in my collection, but thy were also given to me, and cost next to nothing to...

My First Riccar Is The Firt Riccar?

The first Riccars looked like the first of the Panasonic Jet Flo uprights.

    Bought a Fantom - don't know why

I have a couple of Fantoms in the shameful guilty pleasures section of my collection as well. Both were in nice shape and free though...

Does anyone have a diy recipie for kirby shampoo?

Zep, and Landaus make a good alternative, but they key thing is it has to be a dry foam shampoo. These detergents were designed to not leave a sticky residue behind. I don't know of anything one can purchase inexpensively and mix up to create the proper effect, by the time one goes to such...

ATTN PERFORMANCE REVIEW GUY: tacony lightweight vid.

What determines belt side is the direction the motor rotates. Since you always want the brush to sweep towards the back of the nozzle, if the motor you chose to implement into the design rotates one way or the other, that determines where the belt goes. Early Panasonics had the belt on the right...

    Favorite Straight Suction Vacuum made?

Power nozzles will always be preferred, but I have learned to appreciate a good rug nozzle as well! I don't know that I can pick a favorite, I enjoy a central vac, the NSS M-1, Mieles do well too. I simply haven't the patience to try and sort out all of my favorites, but I do enjoy a well...

I think I’m sticking to bagged

Unless there's water involved, a bagged machine will always be a better choice. Even the bagless machines that performed well, and maintained power, lose me when it comes time to empty. The good machines I can ge through the whole house before dumping, but if I have to go through the ordeal of...

Does anyone have a diy recipie for kirby shampoo?

Keep your eyes out for a Rug Doctor is my suggestion, or the Bissell Big Green, the new one that looks like a Rug Doctor. I don't recommend any of the typical household machines myself, I feel like the higher spray pressure and stronger suction do lead to better cleaning.

    Bag/bagless observations

I have bagless vacuums too, but I don’t find myself using them nearly as often as my bagged machines. I just don’t find myself with the urge to futz with all that dust, I do t mind the Rainbow because it’s relatively easy to wash out, and if you change the water before it gets excessively dirty...

There’s a “Thunder” Storm in my Collection!

The were everywhere around here back when they were new, and up until maybe 10 years ago. They just seem to have died out, but a lot of machines of that era are getting less common than they once were, and that is making me feel old...

    electrolux buy?

That version of the 1205 is my favorite of all Electroluxes, it was also the first I've seen. Of course Electrolux is one of my favorites because of this in general...   I always try and grab a good Lux!
