    Dirt Devil Deluxe Emerald Collection

Strange as it seems, I really would mind finding the model of this with that side edge cleaning diverted thing, either in black or turquoise

    Working vacuum test gauge explained.

John, why don’t you just make yourself a NEW THREAD where you can share with the class what’s on your mind, and, here’s the shocking part, then it would actually be ON TOPIC to discuss whatever this is?? Or is it just more you’re style to crash other people’s party by making their threads...

    Vacuum shop stickers on vacuums

My favorite story is the one with the TTI executive and you accosting him about the bag plant, and you weren’t even supposed to be there!

    Vacuum shop stickers on vacuums

Betty Fritz! Oh I wasn’t going to, but you served me this one on a silver platter! You apparently lost it in her store when one of your machines was returned to you... incidentally apparently after you were asked to leave, while you were en route to the next store, she placed a call to the next...

    Christmas Mini Meet

Well, I started collecting as a solitary activity, so it pains me to here that someone stopped collecting because of others... so odd that 10 miles is that far to some, but also here in the US, everything is so much more spread out that most people drive more than 10 miles to work every day...

    Vacuum shop stickers on vacuums

For me it completely depends on a couple things. Where the sticker is on the vacuum, and how old the sticker is. If it were a nicely placed sticker from a store that’s long gone, I’m leaving it. If it’s in a place where it’s crooked or just makes it ugly, it comes off. If it’s a more recent...

What was the strangest thing you found stuck in a modern vacuum

A small size bottle of cherry flavored personal lube. Was caught in the elbow on the back of a non self propelled Hoover WT, right where the hose attaches and then it makes a sharp bend into the bag. I’ve found disgusting things, like used feminine product applicators (ONLY THE APPLICATOR TUBE)...

    Christmas 2020 mini meet

I wish I could have been there!

New vacuum manuals that contain older material/verbage

I think these similarities come from the fact that, while the vacuum has changed a lot, the format people expect and are comfortable with when it comes to instruction manuals has stayed the same.

    Working vacuum test gauge explained.

Basically what you're measuring is the working vacuum in the nozzle area, while the head is on a floor. In some ways its a very similar thing. Does the machine maintain good suction with a normal restriction on the system? The working vacuum gage tests the machine's ability to do this in a...

My Hoover is fixed by the wonders of 3D printing

I LOVE it! I've been wondering when these printers would get good enough to actually create useable vacuum parts like this!

Sebo's and... Baking Powder (Advice Needed)

While you're Floor-A-Matic is quite nice... What people are doing these days is, when, say, the dog dishonors the carpeting (they'll usually break out the paper towels or so on bare floors) is sop up some of it with a paper towel, or pick up the chunks, then they dump a ton of baking soda...

Sebo's and... Baking Powder (Advice Needed)

Oh that’s disgusting! I figured they did that. Where people get off thinking they can suck up damp baking soda is beyond me! I see it all the time at work, sometimes you really just want to let these people have it...

    Nilfisk Canister Model CDF2040

I'd say you definitely want the electric hose too! The suction only hose uses the larger European standard size, but if you have an electric hose, that's 1.25in.

What brand or type of bags do you prefer?

Cloth HEPA type bags, even if I have to get creative to get the bag collar crammed in there. Its really due to my terrible allergies. Some other collectors have complained to me about how this sort of a thing was stupid, but I explained to him that for many of us, its about being about to use...

Sebo's and... Baking Powder (Advice Needed)

I wouldn't worry about it, with the HEPA bags in these nothing will be making it past that. I'd be more upset about the mess in the head of the machine. Easily cleaned up though, but I avoid getting the stuff wet unless you can be sure you've washed it all out, as it'll dry kinda like plaster...

Opinions Wanted: Rug Doctor vs. Bissell Big Green

Pardon the slight gag as the words leave me mouth... But I definitely prefer the Bissell. Since this ain’t one of those awful household ones the other side of Bissell sells, it’s actually quite good. I do own one of them, but I don’t have a Rug Doctor. Had planned on getting a Rug Doctor but...

    bearings in bulk purchase?

What you do, look up the number on the bearing. There should be a number on it. If not measure it. Then look this up and you’ll find many options for buying that bearing.

    Hoover Concept One

I love me a good Hoover Concept, this green was the first that I personally got to use, but the blue one will always be my favorite, just because it’s blue. Not just because it matches my gloves... I haven’t even tried replacing the bearings in the motor, but have always assumed it could be...

    Love my Hoover senior!!!

Definitely a fun machine! Some day I’ll have to find me one, as I’m definitely wanting more vintage Europeanachines.
