    Coolest cake ever

A co-worker has a young son that loves vacuums. For his birthday, a vacuum cleaner cake was made. Now which one in the picture is a cake? Simply incredible.

    What’s your favorite kirby

I’m cheating on my favorite Classic III Picked up a very clean Sentria 1 with shampoo kit for $55. More than I wanted to spend. It just looked so nice. Fired it up and was instantly pleased. I have three very used Gs. All three transmissions need attention. The Sentria is smooth and...

    What’s your favorite kirby

Kirby Classic III This was my first Kirby a year ago. I put on a new style brush roll, and disposable bag conversion. It's a beast. Removing hair from three cats and a German Shepherd in plush carpeting is no problem. It's a beautiful red, and I play with the whole line of accessories for...

    Kirby G3

RARE and COLLECTABLE So many stories about random prices for vacuums. I've bought a number of Kirbys from St.Vincent De Paul for $10-$20 in the past year. If I saw a $100 G3 I would laugh. On the other hand, I bought an absolutely beautiful Bissell Grand Rapids sweeper from Goodwill for...

Bought Old Vacuum, Seller Unresponsive, What Should I Do?

I’ve had a few vacuum and parts fails. Most of the problems involve poor packaging. Only one was an unresponsive seller. EBay has a safety net for buyers. I had a refund within weeks. Like already noted, weekends and holidays can slow down processing. On the other hand, I’ve had a couple...

    Vacuum cleaner display idea

I got mine from amazon. $30 for 6 - 14 inch x 14 inch “cubes” I took the middle sections out as you can see. I bought two sets. If you flip it sideways, you’d have 3 wide by 2 high. Probably would work fine for what you need.

    Vacuum cleaner display idea

My bad. The other electric vacs were acquired from Tom as a part of the St Louis meet this summer. I absolutely love them. They are instant conversation starters. Thanks for the comments about the wire racks. I had no idea how they would frame the vacuums. Up close, they have a modern...

    Vacuum cleaner display idea

Hi all. I have a new office, so I thought that I would redecorate. I wanted to go vertical in a stylish way. I found 14” wire rack pieces, and have started with this configuration. Total vacuum height is a bit tight on the lower level - limited to 42”. As you can see Adams wonderful 562...

Big January vacuum and mixer sale update

Hi Hans As much as I would love to see your mixer collection - a 900 mile drive is beyond my comfort level. Like Mike, I would appreciate shipping if possible. I've always been fascinated by the power and beauty of Hobart / Kitchenaid mixers. I've been through countless (well, I never...

    Oh, People's Ignorance

So right. I made the mistake of commenting on the high price of a NIB vacuum recently, only to find out that it sold at that high price. Definitely a case of value is in the eyes of the beholder. If someone wants "X", and pays the price, it doesn't make them a fool. It just so happens that...

    Looking for any vintage Hoover

My apologies. I have a number of Hoover specials. I could not wrap my head around a factory altered vacuum as being “original”. Your ad was not misleading as you represent it as an original 425 special. Too many years working on cars where something is original only once.

    Looking for any vintage Hoover

"Original"???? FSC3 - I hate to be the Devil's Advocate on the Esty ad - but that 425 is far from original. It's a rebuilt 425 - not original bag, identification plate, base is painted, and motor cover looks repainted.

    Cannister

Lesinutah - No. That is the Electrolux XXX or "30", which is older than you probably want.

    Electrolux XXX question

Aesthetically pleasing or original Good point on the hammertone. I'll check out Rustoleum. I believe in preservation when practical. Do you try to repair a very tired cloth hose, or keep it for display and find a nice one that wasn't original? My first Hoover 105 factory special was rebuilt...

    Electrolux XXX question

Call me crazy...or obsessed Having cut my teeth on coffee can Hoovers and seasoned Kirby's, it was time for a canister. The Vacuum Museum had so many cool examples. Lux's stood out to me. So I started searching. I was tempted by a fairly clean Lux G with PN1. No...not quite right. Then a...

Ultra RARE collectible one of a kind Kirby 511

On Craigslist, this one of a kind Kirby is shouting out for a new owner. I had no idea that an upside down emptor would work. Huh. No, I did not stage the picture. It’s really for sale.

    Electrolux XXX question

Thanks vacuumland1650 for the advice on the Type C bag retrofit. As I check more archives, I see that I have a 1954. I've seen some pictures of the modified bag / hose adapter to use the disposables.

    Electrolux XXX question

Pictures from the auction I hope that I can reattach the hose to the coupling. Thanks Tom for your thoughts on the cord reel. They are nice lookng, but would add weight. Generic hoses are around $30 on Ebay. Certainly makes sense to use one for heavy vacuuming.
