    Gotta ask before purchase......

It is a mixed bag. Ni-Cad batteries do not like to be stored without charging, they will crystallize and go bad without being maintained every couple of weeks. It could be bad right out of the box. Assume you will need the pack rebuilt with new NiCad cells or modified to lithium which may or...

    Display vacuums

Yes you just missed out. I bought all of Big Lots floor displays as they clearanced them out back in 2020. They told me when I bought them that these were the last ones they would be able to sell because the new ones are just shells, they don't even have cords. They are difficult to find, but...

    Fell off the wagon again.

I never seen that Hoover stick labeled "Encore". Mine is titled "Portapower". Yours must be pretty rare. The bag printing coming off depends on how it is applied, and how you wash it, as well as color bleeding. Have to know the right methods to wash and the right detergent to use. You have...

New Orphans Adopted by Casa Electrolux

Good finds! I always am getting vacuums and I will get them to fix up and restore to new condition and resell after making videos on them, and saving them from trash and thrift stores to do the same. Vacuums that are too unique or too rare I will keep and not get rid of and they remain in my...

What vacuums have you seen in movies?

As I come across random TV shows where vacuum cleaners appear I have been keeping notes of what they are and what show it was on, haven't gotten the list compiled yet. Recent one was on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon. He used a Dyson stick to clean up feathers from pillows.

    Really??

I'm certain a lot of this is money laundering or tax fraud (claiming the unsold high priced item as a business loss and getting that money back every year). It recently came out that the people that do those graded baseball cards companies were involved in ponzi schemes and laundering money.

    Westinghouse Canister Vacuum Cleaner

Did you paint the hose or find a genuine hose? I have the Westinghouse Roll-Easy and I was debating whether to spring for a pool cleaner hose on it (only thing in roughly the same green color as the vacuum). I didn't know how well paint would stick to a generic hose, as I've seen people with...

    Over priced?

Is this not even a genuine bag to begin with? I've seen this bag on all the vacuum store rebuilds of Kirby 500 series vacuums and I just always assumed it was some generic part provided through a manufacturing company. I never knew it came from Kirby themselves. I always thought it was like -...

Another One Off the Wish List!

Woah thats a nice find! And with all the tools and accessories too? You definitely do not see that every day! A lot of that rust looks like its just on the surface I think if you get an SOS pad with some soap and lightly scrub it, it should come off without revealing too much of the paint...

    Patriot vacuums

I almost had one of these twice but I didn't know too much about them and didn't jump on the sale. I have a few TriStars already myself.

    Shark Professional Restoration Thread

Woah! I have this same model! I got it when Big Lots was clearing out their display models. It is a store display, never even used. It's got some discoloring on the top of the handle from being near the lights. I've been using it as a clothing rack, lol but it looks like a good model. Cute...

    Odd little bugger....

Late 1940s/ early 1950s if I remember. They came out after the war I know that much. Not entirely rare as they ran for a good many years. Never seen that one with that model of belt cover cap. I have one that has the rare upright conversion setup, its a goofy contraption and it took me about 10...

Dangerous Toxins Found In Black Plastic

The new "fear of the week". The news is paid to promote clickbait garbage to distract you from what's happening to the country. Made to install fear and panic into those easily fooled. Notice nobody is crying about the ABS plastic they have lived with for the past 40+ years. Drink your Kool...

    Is it worth it?

I believe that no vacuum should cost as much as a used car. New or antique. Didn't someone on here say before that the old school collectors had a code not to sell vacuums for so much money, or to just gift them forward and not let them become a commodity? Something like that, am I remembering...

    Personal Experiences with Vacuum Lifespans

My family's Kirby that was bought new in 2002, it's been broken down since 2014. It still runs, just got damage from being banged around a lot and accidentally dropped down the stairs. Also the fan might need a new one. A Eureka upright I got new at Walmart in 2016 lasted through 2020 when I...

Eureka Date Dial (aka Clock) Theory

The date wheels are correct within 1-2 years going either direction accounting for assembly line production time and marketing delays. In Crankman's photo the part with the 1997 photo is on the fan chamber, not the chassis. The fan chamber part was made in 1997. Since Sainitaires are...

Never thought I'd get a Bison Mark 2 vacuum.

I think it's because they found out the gear drive was too complex and costly, and it failed pretty quickly. The gear teeth did not like the resistance once the brushroll was going through thick carpet. That same problem would come back to haunt the Hoover Windtunnel V2.

Royal Dirt Devil Bagless Green Feather Lite Can Vac

Sold for $187.50. Congrats! The Royal/Dirt Devil collectors are very passionate. If it's rare, they will start a bloodbath in the bids. I personally have never seen this thing, but I have seen copycats that look nearly identical to it.

    Interesting find...

Looks like you found the website of the parent company that manufactures the vacuums that major labels will buy from and then slap their logo on it or change the colors. I'd love to buy a few of these myself just to have the first party version of a vacuum before it gets rebranded for American...
