Miele Hybrid S4812 and Eco Line S4212

Hi, Andy! Haven't seen you around for a while, I hope you're ok? My impressions of the Hybrid - based on my limited experience at the Gallery yesterday - were very good. Obviously, with a Miele, 600w is plenty of power to work with, and I love the idea of being able to use it to clean the car...

Miele Hybrid S4812 and Eco Line S4212

I spent much of yesterday at the beautiful new Miele Gallery in Cavendish Square, London, for a preview of their latest cleaners, the Hybrid S4812, and the Eco Line S4212. Based on the S4, the Hybrid introduces a new patented technology which allows the user to switch seamlessly between mains...

    Dyson DC15

Then, assuming the DC15's lid is designed the same way as the DC14's (the DC15 is one Dyson model I don't yet have!), the removal of these 2 torx screws will allow you to pull the handle off and replace it. Hope this helps! Did your friend at the vac shop have any suggestions about the problem...

    Dyson DC15

Hi Alex, if there's a short somewhere, there's little I can suggest, since I can't trace it without having the machine here in person! Only other thing I can think of is that perhaps the micro-switch, which turns the brushroll on or off when you stand the cleaner upright or recline it, is...

    Exhibition update

John Lucia - sorry I missed your name out! The Sun is a national daily tabloid with a circulation of 2,862,935, and a readership of 7,986,000, so it's inevitable there will be a few negative comments, I guess. It's a shame, but I have to keep in mind that the only opinions that matter are the...

    Exhibition update

John, Stephen, Terry, Simon, Kenny, Bill, Joe, Rob, Mike and Dave - thanks for your responses! It's been great, but it'll nice to be able to relax again, I've been working at 200% since the end of November! As you say, Simon - it would be fitting if I could persuade the Design Museum to host an...

    Exhibition update

Hi Charles Richard - the lower motor vents you mention seem to appear exclusively on 240v machines - my guess would be that Hoover engineers were concerned about keeping the new 360w motor cool when running on a higher current. The same lower vents were also used on the 825; later 825s had...

    Exhibition update

I forgot to post this - the heading from the guarantee letter. 'R. Roberts, Esq.' was the lady's father. I know where Oriental Road is - maybe 10-15 mins drive from where I live. I doubt the house will be called 'Alandale' any more, it probably has a number, but I'll have to go down and see if I...

    Exhibition update

As you can see from the previous photos, it was a little tarnished and dusty with age, but here's what I achieved after 10 mins hand-polishing with Autosol! It'll be a while before I have time to clean it all up and finish restoring it, I'll post further pictures when I'm done!

Even more astoundingly...she had the boxed set of tools, the manual, the remains of the instruction tag, and even the original guarantee letter. The cleaner was purchased on 26th July, 1935, when her father had bought it as a gift for her mother. I worked out that this 90 year old lady would...

    Exhibition update

Speaking of the wonderful public reaction, a number of people have contacted the gallery looking to rehome their old cleaners. I haven't had a chance to follow up all the enquiries yet, but here is one I was VERY glad I did! A 90 year old lady called me to tell me she had 'an old 1935...

    Exhibition update

Only 6 days left of my exhibition now - I have mixed feelings about it all! It's been a lot of hard work, and it'll be nice to have all my Hoovers safely back home again, but overall it's been a very enjoyable experience, and the public reaction has been wonderful. Just speaking to some of the...
