1960 Lewyt Power Window Big Wheel

'Seems like a great idea in theory, but not in practice. Not to mention, a bagged cleaner lives or dies by the airflow it can filter; by adding a celophane panel, you reduce the porous surface area, and thus, the potential efficiency of the bag. The bags pictured seem to have a relatively...

Here's a very cool early Hoover plug, now fitted to my Model 541. It can be converted for use in both bayonet lamp sockets, or 2-pin wall sockets. The distance between the pins can even be adjusted to fit the non-standardised sockets...

How well it cleans depends greatly on what surface you're using it on - I can't see it doing well on thick American carpeting. I find the brush is too soft for deeper-pile carpet, but it does well on medium and lower pile, and bare floors. I'm assuming your one will be rated at 1200w at most...

EurekaPrince: I disagree with that statement...the hose is pretty lightweight and very flexible. Not heavy at all - lighter, in fact that many 'traditional' cloth hoses. It's true that it's not constructed in the 'old' way - good thing, too, as we know older hoses are prone to hardening and...

'Let's not forget that their "fabulous" upright has now been rebadged in our country as a Dirt Devil and also as a Vax in the U.K.' Actually, it was a Vax first, then a Bosch/Siemens/Dirt Devil. It started life as the Vax AVC1 and AVC2 models, designed and developed by Vax's design team, based...

I do like the hose - much lighter in weight and more flexible than vintage woven hoses. I do wonder, though, if the slightly 'loose' weave will show a tendency to snag on sharp edges...I guess only time will tell! The motor comes with a 10 year guarantee, which is impressive. I'm just not...

Colour... ...is surely a matter of taste? I'm sure after the endless variations of austere maroon, brown and beige of the 40s, plenty were reviled by the extensive use of frivolous pastel shades in the 50s. Of course, these people failed to understand the work of, for example, Henry Dreyfuss...

scanned in a european electrolux brochure, enjoy.

I think the UltraOne is a beautifully-designed cleaner; I like the orange one the best! Currys in the UK have recently started selling the entry-level model badged as AEG (see link under video). True to UK form, no remote handgrip or powernozzle :( <object width=660 height=525><param...

    I Have Been Proven Wrong!

I'm pleased to read about your change of heart; just goes to show what actual experience of a product can do! It's very important to make the distinction between 'filter-based bagless', 'dual-cyclonic' and 'multi-cyclonic', which many on this forum fail to do. They tend to tar them all with the...

    BIGGEST WASTE OF $100!!

Great deal, Kyle - it's a superb machine! I think Miele made a big mistake dropping the Revolution (ie. PN-equipped) canister line in the UK. I liked my Revolution 500 (although as an upright user, I like the S7, which replaced it, much more!), but I'd love to have the latest Revolution with the...

Good to hear the DC26 is on it's way to Canada! Official word from Dyson with regards to the DC26 in the US is that although it's being seriously considered, no firm decision has been made at this point. 'Airider makes a handheld version of it's floating vacuum cleaner.' - they do?? <object...
