It's not the vacuums.... The parts and things I buy for the vacuums I have seem to cost me more than the vacuum itself. I got my Electrolux LX for $5 then spent $40 for a nice looking original hose. My Kirby D80 was $40 then another $40 for a correct bag.

I just (very) recently became interested in vintage vacuums - I'm 40 years old and do have other interests as well. In the last two weeks, I found an old Electrolux at a garage sale and then bought a Kirby at a flea market and have spent some time at home cleaning the vacuums up, admiring them...

Thanks I bought the correct bag on ebay and started polishing - it's not easy to get that mirrored finish I see on some of the other vacuum's posted on this site. The TR4 is a great car - it's amazing how many people stop me to tell me that they use to have one. Out here in California it's not...

Also at the flea market an Invincible - they wanted $150 for it - it looked cool, but was more than I could afford.

I got this today at a flea market for $40 - Don't know anything about it other than it runs! The bag was full and the bulb is missing - can anyone tell me what type of replacement bulb I need and anything else about this model. Thanks!

Hello, I just got an original looking hose for my Electrolux LX - can anyone recommend a good way to test it for leaks. I do hear a slight whistling sound where it connects to the canister, but am not sure if it's leaking under the fabric covering the hose. Thanks!
