The Hoover Lightweight Platinum bagged is a nice machine and is compact, nimble, and agile for apartment use... it also has a low speed for quieter use though the difference in noise leve isn't significant. I'd likely go for a more quality machine if money were no object. I use my Miele...

Hooverman, I agree... I hate D/loop style handles, especially on uprights... I think they are too restrictive and don't really help...

Cam2s, I have the same brown shag rug you do, and the Hoover Z 700 is one of the few uprights I can use on it... Kirbys and Eureka F and G style uprights work well too, but not much else does... I usually use the Sentria when I want to give it a deep clean or a straight suction for surface...

I have the Z 700, and it really is a conversation piece... as far as actual use, the suction and airflow are abysmal, but the agitation is good. It is super heavy and bulky... not agile or nimble at all... the electric height adjust is cool as are the headlights in the front, but that's about...

It's really a tough choice. I agree with you about Electrolux power nozzles not being deep cleaners. I didn't think Miele had a mini-power head, and I've never been impressed with the Sidekicks (the one for my Renny rattles and isn't powerful, and the youtube videos I've seen seem the same)...

I like the way it looks, but with the dust cup and the "works" on the bottom, I imagine it is rather clumsy and awkward... If you can still find a black and decker flex, I really like them....

OK, I got the thing dried out and put back together.... I found a great way to dry the the parts... put them in the closet with the dehumidifier running overnight and they are bone dry and undamaged (I've tried the dishwasher before, but that can melt parts, and is always full of clean or dirty...
