    Dirt Devil UK now TTI?

It does appear ownership of the brand in the UK has now transferred to TTI. Under the "Contact Us" section of the website, the postal address is for TTI head office in Hampton Lovett, Worcs. This is the same address given for Vax and Oreck also.

    Your Thoughts On Turbopowers!

Well, you know, this IS the Vintage forum. And to be fair, I didn't notice any drama in this thread until the final paragraph of reply #30. JUST SAYING.

    Your Thoughts On Turbopowers!

As far as the TP1 goes, the hard box models are fine, but the Junior was always my favourite. Less weight in the handle meant they were less prone to trunnion wear and leaning. And ironically, despite being the BOL option, the cloth bag offered at least some attempt at additional filtration that...

    Whats your favorite vacuum?

Decisions, decisions. As far as cylinders go, that's any easy one. Sebo D4 every time. For uprights, I would agree that the Electrolux 500/Twin style cleaner is hard to beat. I've always considered these to be the high point as far as uprights are concerned, with things starting to go downhill...

Cleaning an apartment before moving out

Looks great, I think any landlord would be pleased to see how much effort you guys have put into leaving the place clean. We've done it 14 times over the years, my father was in the Navy so we used to up sticks and move regularly. Each time we left one set of military quarters for another, the...

    Rug Doctor?

Used to have the RD Wide Track and it's true, they do put out a lot of water. Part of the reason they work so well, but you do have to be careful about overwetting. Don't pull the machine back *too* slowly while spraying (particularly on berber type carpet), and be sure to follow up with plenty...

    Vacuuming questions

    1) How do you start vacuuming? Do you turn the machine on first or do you recline the vacuum first? Recline first, then switch on. 2) How often do you unplug the vacuum? Never. I can clean my entire home from the one plug socket. 3) How often do you vacuum? Every day, when I'm at home. On...

'Options by Hoover' Turbopower - vintagerepairer?

Yes, Rumbelows. I do remember seeing this cleaner in their window display at the time, can't recall anything else about it though other than it was indeed burgundy. This would have been around 1990 at the latest, maybe a year or two earlier... that's all I have, date wise.

    New Sebo X4 Pet Boost

Just spotted this while having a gander at the Sebo website. The X4 Pet Eco model appears to have been upgraded with a Boost button on top of the hood. The motor wattage is the same, and from reading the blurb, it sounds as though this may work by overriding the automatic height adjustment...

Dyson DC55 Total Clean - Review and impressions

Depends on the type of cat litter also. I use premium clumping (or rather my cat does, before anyone gets an image in their head that can't be erased) which has a very small particle size and goes straight up the vacuum without any issue. Some non-clumping litters in particular are much coarser...

Water Filtration Bissell Pro-heat All Rounder

I have the Hydroclean (same as the one in Roger's unboxing video), which is exactly the same cleaner in a different colour. Bought it for use only as a shampooer, and for that it's great. Has external tanks with decent capacity, integrated solution feed line, and an onboard heater that gets the...

    The YouTube sensation ibaisaic

Sleepdoc, please don't feel guilty or awkward for starting this thread. It was quite clearly done with the best of intentions, something those who commented negatively knew full well, but decided to ignore simply because they had an axe to grind. That does not reflect badly on you. I don't know...

    Electrolux SmartVac Z4670

Considering a lot of people in the trade were underwhelmed with these when they first came out (comparing them against the likes of the Contour and Airstream), they actually turned out to be pretty robust cleaners. As long as the bags and filters were changed as recommended, and the brush roll...

    Ahh roomba

The thing that always put me off these was, what if the cat puked or spat up a hairball, and the Roomba got to it before I did? THIS would be my worst nightmare: http://www.dailydot.com/lol/roomba-dog-poop-disaster/

    Rainbows in the UK?

There are a few water filtration vacs in the UK, off the top of my head here's a few: Sirena - http://www.vitality4life.co.uk/sirena-vacuum-cleaner/ Thomas - http://www.robert-thomas.co.uk/aqua-technology/ Rainbow - http://www.aqua-air.co.uk Rainbow - http://www.rainbow-london.com Bissell -...

    Dyson Cinetic doesn't work well.

The fill line is there for a reason, but yes, in all likelihood it is entirely possible that the bin may be overfilled at some point through oversight. These things happen sometimes, and safeguarding against this is something Dyson needs to design into the product.

    Vax New Wave 1300

True, and that's exactly how it turned out in the end. Fast forward to the present day and the vacuum cleaner and carpet washer are now two completely separate, distinct appliances. Both of which are better at the particular jobs they do, simply by virtue of not trying to be all things to everyone.

Performance ratings are independently tested by the EU

Urgh, I don't like the look of that much. I get that the brush roll can't be turned off, and would scatter dirt on hard floors, but this seems like such a cheesy workaround. The Kirby hard floor plate does work well, because it has a row of short bristles directly behind the suction slot. With...

    Vax New Wave 1300

I seem to recall the earlier blue Vax uprights came supplied with a wall bracket, on which the wet cleaning tanks could be hung when not in use. They were indeed bulky and awkward to store, and on top of that you had the additional hose and wand to find a home for too. Another item specific to...
