Help needed to find out about vacuum

Hope.... I'm wrong, but I smell 'foul' on this. No profile info is filled out whatsoever, hard luck story etc. Kevin

    Electrolux model #1205 Armature

OK..... now I'm really curious....how are you guys rigging a vacuum gauge? Are you using inches of mercury scales (must be from what you wrote), metric or 'other'?? Any pics (please)? Kevin

Someone had a wonderful Christmas, once upon a time...

I..... definitely thought about the possibility of coming to a convention and joining the VCCC, Charlie. This vacuum hobby is fairly new for me...but not vacuums. I never had any idea that people actually collected them. I knew some vacuum salesmen that had many, but never considered it to be a...

    Original Hose...

Dave.... said it's been decades since LUX put out the replacement vinyl hose with the same pattern. Maybe old vacuum shops still around or someone who bought out all the parts in an old shop etc. ebay...of course and craigslist, but you might have to buy the whole vacuum to get it. Not...

    Electrolux model #1205 Armature

OK.... just to be clear here from what I understand; the later G's (tan) had a more powerful motor than the earlier ones. That same more powerful motor continued on in the 1205. One of my G's will almost pull four balls. I assumed it had the more powerful motor in there as a replacement (it's...

Nice vintage vacuum for everyday use

If..... you can live with a canister type vac, you can't beat the LUX G. If you wanna go a little newer and still have a all metal, transitional model-the LUX 1205 with the fully electric hose & PN-2. I'm partial, but hey, you asked!;-) No particular problem (except matching color body parts)...

Someone had a wonderful Christmas, once upon a time...

Yes.... Charlie, many have endured far worse. The boy, now man, in the book "A Boy Named It" for one. When mental illness, drugs & alcohol and/or desperation meet parenthood; often a tornado mates with a hurricane. I've been truly blessed as well and work with young adults in all my spare...

Someone had a wonderful Christmas, once upon a time...

No.... aspersions cast you way Charlie, of course; I had no way of knowing about your past. Mine was similarly painful and had parents that didn't talk to me the last ten yrs or so of their bitter lives. This has caused me a sort of purgatory where I can't hate them, but can't grieve for them...

Someone had a wonderful Christmas, once upon a time...

Not.... trying to be PC here, but.... Sure, really cool gifts for the males in the house, but think about it...a vacuum cleaner for your Xmas if you were the mom, or an oven, frier, toaster etc? Not very original there and lest we forget, roles were extremely UN-flexible in those *good ol'...

    Original Hose...

If.... you want functionality, go for the vinyl that has the same pattern.;-) How does it run, sound and suck? Kevin

    Selling my Electrolux

Didn't.... you post pics before of a lovingly done restoration job? I remember that someone posted about restoring a Anniversary PN-2 like this and the 1205..... Kevin

What vacuums do U regret getting rid of?

Upright Hoover vacuum from the early 70's. Easily replaced if I wanted that model again....but not my original. It was my first vacuum and my first apt. I practically wore the carpet out running it and was intoxicated by its noise.;-) It was traded in when we bought the Diamond Jubilee about...

    Selling my Electrolux

Nice..... shouldn't the plastic PN wand body be blue and shouldn't the upholstery brush and crevice tool also be blue? Not giving you a hard time, but for that money I would expect matching attachments if applicable....except the hose; I want functionality there.;-) Kevin

In Need of Some Advice Re: Lux Model XXX Motor

I'd..... have to see one in the flesh. It sounds self-evident if you've overhauled a lot of old motors. It couldn't be as critical as Babbitt bearings or pillow blocks. Kevin

    Early birthday gift

Well... if someone did give me a canister LUX for my BD, I would probably pass out.;-) That would show great metal on their part; that they researched and actually found something I liked. In the realm of possibilities, it *could* happen, but probably not. OTOH, if someone called me and said...

    Early birthday gift

I..... dunno....as I said, most people around you may have absolutely no idea what kind of vacuum you might crave. It's analogous to me getting an antique ceramic doll for someone's birthday; I have no idea about them except they have value and I wouldn't be the least interested in researching...

    Looking for Electrolux

I..... totally agree with that; craigslist, thrift stores and estate/garage sales are the way to go these days for any kind of reasonable vacuum/parts pricing. I'm not doing anymore collecting until I polish up my PN-2 Anniversary model for the 1205's and go completely through it. Too many...

In Need of Some Advice Re: Lux Model XXX Motor

Why..... would that be; are there shims involved or a way to manually line up the shaft? Kevin

What is the most amount you've spent on a vintage vac?

Yeah..... I have paid WAY more for the factory LUX replacement hoses than the vacuums themselves. Something really ironic/wrong there.... Kevin

    Local Craigslist Screenshots

I've..... bought a lot of stuff on craigslist, but not local. The problem with that is; craigslist itself advises against doing that and accepting MO's etc. I've never had a buyer just refuse me, but I've always had to pay full price and all the shipping etc. So....other than cheaper prices on...
