Filter Queen saved from the trash.

Rob... that's not at all what I meant. I realize it was probably an <a name="start_18540.204362">applique....something like that usually is unless it's real camo. My idea was to 'forge' the look somehow with paint(s). I also said I really wouldn't have any idea how to do it exactly because...

Filter Queen saved from the trash.

As.... Rob said above you have two choices in PN's to be authentic; one brown marbled like your Filter Queen and one with a chrome like finish. I don't know how you would do the brown marbling, but there are plastic paints with mirror/chrome finishes that look exactly like chrome. Maybe the...

Filter Queen saved from the trash.

Well..... I'm no expert on Filter Queens (and maybe that's the problem) but I think the newer style PN looks great and probably functions better than the old? If I'm using and old LUX, I use a modern LUX hose.  Doesn't look 'period' but works and lasts much better. The old cloth hoses were...

My..... opinion is too leave it as is.....green cord is fab, but don't go further with the color.   Kevin

    Super J manual

Agreed.... I found a nice original manual for the G on ebay for $10 shipped. So, they're out there........   Kevin

    Another G...

Seller..... refused to send anymore pics or close-up of the unit. So.....all I can say is it has several, including one yellow, rectangular one.  All probably dealer stickers then....we'll see.   Kevin

Rob S.......     Rob W gave the definitive answer above; there were two model PN's to match Dylan's brown marble finish. I think what Dylan has now looks stellar. Someday if he finds a OE PN for a reasonable price, he can jump on it. Until then he uses the FrankenQueen set-up.   Kevin

    Vintage rental carpet shampooers

I used..... a Rug Doctor type steam cleaner on a carpet back in the middle to late 70's.  There was something wrong with it and I was getting severe electric shock while using it. It was the old issue about trying to get my deposit back from a slumlord in Portland, OR.  He was never around for...

Filter Queen saved from the trash.

As.... Rob said Dylan, just take your ground wire to anything chassis metal that's convenient for you. I really should get into Canadian LUX's ....you had your own models that paralleled our US models. Has anyone done a history piece...like what's been done for US models?    As far as LUX...

Filter Queen saved from the trash.

Exactly.... and like you said, that color would surely grow on you. You'd be the talk of the next vac convention with that cord! I'm pretty much a traditional LUX metal canister guy, but your vac in the first pic is just gorgeous! I even like the brown & chrome contrast.....   Kevin

    Another G...

Thanks..... keeping my fingers crossed for sure! But the pragmatist in me says, 'wait, wait until you see it'. I don't know why, but I kinda fancy a LUX with the rebuild stickers. Doesn't really mean anything unless it had little use after the rebuild, other than the owner cared a bit about the...

Agreed.... beautiful vac & polish job!! Use the green cord....very unique.   Kevin

    Another G...

I found on ebay. The description was terrible and showed a box of stuff not related to the G next to it.  One distant pic and I sent two messages to the seller through ebay (always use this function, as it's in ebay's records as well) for better pics and more info and got no response until an hr...

    Hoses & dirt

Just an FYI of sorts.....those newer style LUX hoses (and I suppose any hose that shape), that are shaped at the end with the 60 degree convenience angle (which would of course include those 'pistol grip' types)......you really need to work a bottle brush up in there and see what comes out.   ...

    Model G Cordwinder Fix?

I'd be happy to walk you through this if you can take pics and send in email. I've done a fair number of these.  Don't use WD 40 for anything. It's a water dispersant formula with silicone. There are dozens of special purpose sprays that perform better in every way.  You probably need a...

    Air flow

Yeah.... no doubt. When the saleswoman sold us the Diamond Jubilee, she had the ball gauge.  The old G we had, sucked up the balls almost as well as the new LUX. But suction isn't everything and airflow is as important if not more. You can get great suction against fixed objects like that (or a...

    Air flow

I thought... it used a scale like one to ten. I'm not sure how to get friendly with a local Kirby dealer other then to pretend I'm going to buy one   I do always see them online in conjunction with Kirby, but I'm hoping I can get one from some other entity.   Kevin

    Air flow

I can't..... find even a link to one for sale. They must be available through some supply house...? Evan....we should buy just one and share it.....I certainly don't need it around here 24/7.   Kevin

    Air flow

In the world of air flow testing....where can a Baird air flow meter be purchased? Anyone have one to sell?   Kevin
