    Ranking The Consumer-Level Carpet Shampooers

I got a response to a comment I made a LONG time ago on a carpet cleaning video. Someone who cleans carpets for a living.... They said absolutely do not use any soap in the machine. None. Zero. They said in bad cases spray pre treat or stain spray on bad spots....but just use HOT water in the...

My new sirena vacuum arrived here are my thoughts.

would you believe that I lost the separator nut to my sirena? LOL ! Amazing how that little bitty thing renders the whole thing useless. I'm so organized and usually never lose anything....for the LIFE of me I can't figure out where it went. I had stored it in the basin with the separator and...

Good news for the future of vacuums as major home appliances

This has always been something I've wondered about. What it would be like to live in a house with no carpet and just hard floors. Part of me thinks it would be EASIER because you don't need a PN or brushroll..Just a hard floor brush for the entire house......but I can see that hard floors could...

I don't think the bag change indicator is accurate

A packed full bag? I've heard of some doing that but I've never actually seen that and definitely haven't done it. It makes you wonder how that's even possible as there's nowhere for air to go to be able to keep picking up dirt. And the indicator still didn't come on? Sad. Yeah, blocking the...

I don't think the bag change indicator is accurate

Lux bag check I don't use my Epic 6500 for whole house cleaning (I have in the past) but not anymore.....I don't like the PN.. A long time ago, I bought a huge box of 100 bag on Ebay for like $39. The 4 ply paper bags.....these bags are really good as there is ever hardly any dust in the bag...

I don't think the bag change indicator is accurate

Yea For those of you who vacuum your house daily - how often do you change the bag? I skip some days and some days I use my Rainbow so I average using my upright maybe 4 times a week, some weeks 5 times.....My house is 1300 Sq Ft (not huge) plus it's not very dirty...IWall to wall berber and...

I don't think the bag change indicator is accurate

well I know what you mean by that dusty smell......sort of a stale smell. But I can't go by that because I suck up a bit of activated charcoal every other time I vacuum...I also open and visibly look....and there's heavy dirt at the bottom, but the rest of the bag is still fluffy and feels...

I don't think the bag change indicator is accurate

Of all the bagged vacuums I've had that have a bag change indicator.....I don't understand how they work......For example, obviously, if you put your hand over the suction, the light pops on because you're blocking airflow......As the bag fills, more airflow gets blocked, but NOT ENOUGH for the...

    Ranking The Consumer-Level Carpet Shampooers

I'll chime in I just recently got a Hoover Turbo Scrub (very similar to the old Hoover Steamvac's) but more cheaply made I'm sure, but easier to clean. I'm not sure why, but Hoovers just extract MORE WATER than Bissell's. The only thing I can think of is the motor amperage. Mine is 10 amps...

    Simplicity Craigslist Purchase: NO SUCTION!

Yes definitely get the HEPA bags. This looks similar to my Cirrus upright. There will be no dust in the bag chamber. Incidentally, how do you guys who clean used vacuums up clean a bag chamber? There are so many nooks and crannies. I've never been able to completely clean them 100% in the past.

    RainbowMate 12

Ya something must be wrong I have a rainbow mate from 2006 that came with my Rainbow, and though I don't use it a lot, it's always fully powered with no bogging down issues, no rattles, etc. Ya, those Lux ones rattle big time. I have one of those too it's crazy noisy but I didn't get my Epic...

New Kirby Avalir2 system owner. Impressed engineer.

Yes I know the longer the hose, the less flow but when cleaning above floor, you don't need "suck dirt from the bottom of the pad suction" like you do on carpet.

New Kirby Avalir2 system owner. Impressed engineer.

If I had a Kirby I would absolutely get the (12 foot?) hose. I think it's 12 feet or something like that. I know there's a 30 foot but to me 12 is enough...This way, you can park the Kirby and clean all over the place that isn't carpet..I used to ONLY want canister vacuums because above floor...

Weird thing happened with my vacuum today

Ya. I've never experienced a clog in a vacuum before. I guess it was possible. The bag full indicator works but it wasn't lit up when this happened.. I will say this: Used again today - fresh bag, fresh filter. The thing I notice...I also remember this same thing happening with my Shark vacuum...

Weird thing happened with my vacuum today

My daily driver (Cirrus CR79) which I really like BTW - I went to use it today as I do most every other day and as I turned it on I noticed a strange sound and I smelled what I can only describe as hot metal or possibly rubber, almost like something was to the point of burning but I saw no...

How to remove cooling fan of Rainbow E-2 Single speed?

@ lesinutah Yea - I remember you really are against removing the fans at all. I remember you said it makes it worse and it's best to not take the fans off. I remember because a couple of years ago when I dropped my rainbow off at the dealer to have them fix the control board, I left my #. He...

How to remove cooling fan of Rainbow E-2 Single speed?

I saw a video on youtube of someone servicing a rainbow......and instead of removing the fans, they took it outside, taped some things up, and turned it on, poured water in the shaft area and the water shot out the back (this is with it running)...He clearly stated in the video that people...

Water vacuums in Consumer Reports, Spring 2021

Actually Not sure about the other tests....but the emissions test scoring low with Sirena: I immediately thought about when I first used mine what struck me was how the separator gets so dirty. I wasn't expecting that because on my Rainbow, it doesn't. Back when I had my Shark I would use my...

    "Classic" Hoover SteamVac Discontinued?

I thought the classic spinscrub was discontinued a couple of years ago. The power scrub, turbo scrub, and elite resemble the classic but they are not the classic..I looked all over Ebay and I saw ONE new old stock one....JUST ONE, but I'm not even sure if it was spinscrub or just the stationary...

    "Classic" Hoover SteamVac Discontinued?

Sorry to revive this but if someone happens along.......I have some questions: I recently bought a Hoover spinscrub carpet cleaner - not the classic Hoover Steamvac but very similar. I know Hoover discontinued this but my question is...what's the major difference? I don't see much at all...
