    Central vac recommendations

The Hoover GUV fits that bill exactly and there's a few on eBay right now for under $200. Bissell also still sells their Garage Pro, which is currently $226 on Amazon. I think it's a matter of personal preference. The Hoover is probably more collectable long term imo.

Hoover's new cordless upright commercial vacuum

$1,100 for a Hoover is wild. The cordless Simplicity Freedom is on sale right now for $491 (perhaps a good Christmas gift idea). Also I feel like it's very important for people to realize these batteries are consumable parts and will wear out. Wayy before the end of its potential life compared...

    Fell off the wagon again.

Interesting! Both Encores. The 90s Hoovers seem to get rarer (and more valuable) by the day. My parents had almost the exact same Elite but it was called a Decade instead of Encore. Same Soft & Light and Triple Filtration System logo and color. I was told they bought it from Target. Maybe...

@panasonicvac Those Kenmore and Kirby pictures are incredible thank you for posting.

    bissell pro heat

Mid-2000s probably Those aren't too bad actually. It's not going to be as powerful as a commercial truck mount but the ones I've owned do legitimately clean and refresh carpets. If you can get it at a good price and it works I would grab it. My advice is pre-spraying the carpet usually helps a...

    Are "pet" vacuums really necessary?

Yeah I know that's been discussed a few times. Personally I really hope this web design lasts as long as possible. It fits the vibe of the collecting community and most importantly is easy to search when you need some info from the archive. Just did the math and realized I've been here 15...

    Are "pet" vacuums really necessary?

No Total marketing ploy. Over half of Americans have a pet (my family has had dogs and cats my entire life), and reports suggest pet ownership is increasing, especially since the pandemic. It's a good way to target a very large demographic. The turbo brushes can be useful but they're neither a...

    Rug doctor acquired by Bissell?

Whoaa this is also news to me. I wonder how much of this is due to carpeting falling out of favor with homeowners/home builders. Rug Doctor must have been hurting and a reduction in carpet sales would make sense. The Bissel Big Green was also a massive improvement over the old RD machines. I...

Dream machine acquired - Riccar Tandem Air

@universaldave1 What type of vacuums were you using at your condo before the Riccar? 1.5 bags of grit is crazy. Congrats on the new machine I hope you're still enjoying it.

    Never seen this Windtunnel

I remember that thread very well. That's at Gregory's Sweeper Central in PA, the last official authorized Hoover dealer. Still open today if you want to give him a call; he left Vacuumland years ago. I think I found a picture of the box for that machine on...

    Hoover Legacy History

1990 sounds right for the original models. I have this brochure for one with a date of February 1990. Later in their life they were sold as Dimensions. I had one for a few years that I remember being from 1995. This Youtube video I found is from 97.

    Hoover Clean Sweep Award 1998

I found this picture last night of a tennis player winning a Hoover Windtunnel as I think a promotional gift at a tennis match in New York. I was a kid in 1998, but this is my first time learning about the "Clean Sweep Award". The caption on Getty Images is: "NEW YORK, UNITED STATES: Martina...

    New Vacuum Finds

Beautiful machines. My grandparents had a 1931 AT while I was growing up; not sure of the exact dates but I'm sure it was from the early 90s at the very latest. I remember back when this thread was started (2011), it was still possible to find F&G Eurekas pretty easily in thrift stores. And...

Barely Used Hoover Windtunnel Stretch Hose 20fT Find!

Whoa I haven't seen that picture on the back of the box forever!!! Very very cool find. The Windtunnels have pretty long hoses as it is. They used to sell turbobrushes as separate accessories as well. I remember spending close to $40 on one at Khol's.

    Sebo Softcase CE12 in USA!

Excellent! Okay i’ll check in again next month. That is disappointing about the short cord. Definitely one of my pet peeves. But I haven’t been this excited about a new vacuum in awhile. we haven’t had a new direct-air soft case machine in awhile

    Sebo Softcase CE12 in USA!

Does anyone have a Sebo dealer contact here in the states with these in stock? There's a dealer in Canada that seems willing to ship it here but I'd be worried about returns if something went wrong. I think the Sebo looks way better than the Karcher...

    Sebo Softcase CE12 in USA!

Thank you for sharing the video! I am very very interested in this. I saw the Karcher Ranger factory refurbished on eBay for $199, and was tempted, but the color scheme isn't for me. But I'm mostly concerned about bag/parts availability. It's not standardized and I think we'll have to see how...

    Possible purchase

These are more or less a descendant from the Hoover T Series which came out in the late 2000s. I've owned both one of the originals and a Windtunnel Max from 2016ish. The Windtunnel Max died last year after regular service but my parents didn't take well care of it. They clean carpets very well...

    Bissell Made Sanitaires

Been doing a lot of research on new Sanitaires this week after deciding I might want one as a Christmas gift to myself. I shockingly only learned about the acquisition by Bissell last year even though it's been over 5 years since it was announced. Does anyone have any experience with the new...
