Rainbow vs. Fantom Thunder, last vac wins the demo, in response to Kill a Kirby

In regards to the Kill a Kirby thread , I decided to do a test of Fantom vs. Rainbow in the same light. My wife has a Rainbow demo coming up and wanted to practice, so when it came to vac comparisons I chose my Fantom Thunder vs. the Rainbow. You could pull cloths all day with the Rainbow (we...

    Bissell healthy home 16n53

Well the Eureka airspeed one was not cutting it for the wood stove, surprising since the dual cyclonic Fantom handled this job with ease, however I have pretty much retired every working Fantom to occasional use only due to rarity. So I stopped at Ollie's today and they were selling off all...

    Kirby salesperson worst nightmare

Actually that is what I said in my post, the last vac to pull wins because dirt is always left behind. The Rainbow demo is the same and it always wins. If the vac it is up against isn't maintained it makes matters worse. You could do the test with a Kirby and pull a cloth with the Fantom. My...

    Kirby salesperson worst nightmare

Additionally the Kirby was in excellent condition and it did not sound like it was bogging down. If anything it sounded like the brush was too aggressive like it was really pounding the carpet.

    Kirby salesperson worst nightmare

No lie on the half an inch. Mostly dog hair. The Kirby was plugged in, and I'd never have believed it if I didn't see it. The carpet was a dense pile manufactured wool area rug in a dining room. The carpet hadn't been vacuumed in a bit, the lady admitted she had been too busy to move the table...

    Kirby salesperson worst nightmare

The newest Rainbow should give a good go, did the Rainbow demo vs. new Kirby about a month ago. The Rainbow killed the Kirby with a new bag at that on a demo standpoint. 50 strokes back and forth on the carpet with the Kirby, did 3 inches of that same carpet, 1/2 inch of dirt on the test cloth...

    Kenmore cyclonic

That blue canister, which I have, is actually dual cyclonic having the chambers stacked one on top of the other, but it seems less efficient by design than the more traditional setup. It was made by elextrolux, in sweden if I recall.

The Dyson That Picks Up Water???

Rainbows are double insulated. Even before that variations of the design have been around over 50 years. Loads have been sold. Don't hear of issues. Our local office has sold over 30k in the last 25 years. In regards to Fantom, I picked up a Cyclone Xt that had been used for water, I dried it...

The Dyson That Picks Up Water???

Rainbow E series can pick up water, the seperator keeps it out of the motor. Only the most recent electric hoses are designed for it otherwise you have to use the non electric hose on older models, like when using the aquamate. Someone does the above test with the Fantom and it survived...

    Eureka Airspeed One

I am not intending to suck up hot ash with it, on rare occasion after a long burn you get a hot coal even after a few days and I don't suck up all the ash, I scoop most of it into a metal bucket, just cleaning the traces I can't get with the shovel. Even so you get a hot one every so often, poof...

    Eureka Airspeed One

Picked up one of these to clean out a wood stove as it was cheaper than shop vac filters which burn up if you get a hot ash by accident.. This thing is cheap! Build quality is beyond cheap. Only redeeming factor over an equally cheap Bissell is it is dual cyclonic. I tested it against a Fantom...

    New Carpet with Vacuum Limits

Fantom Thunder The Fantom Thunder brushroll is more aggressive on carpets than that of the Dyson in my finding, which also accounts for it seeming to outclean the DC33 and DC07 I have. It would not be surprising that it would pull fibers on a wool carpet if particularly a deeply tufted one...

    New Carpet with Vacuum Limits

If the brush roller wasn't recommended on certain types of carpets doesn't this mean that any canister or upright that you could disengage the brushroll on or operate with a straight suction attachment (Dyson, Rainbow etc) be perfectly acceptable? While I'd be comfortable with some of them...

    The New SIRENA

I was told 1500hrs in terms of motor, just wondering how it translates to low speed if they told you (I'll ask when I get everything situated and call next). Plenty for a vac but if you're using it on low as an air purifier it seems like too little as you're talking something that runs 24 7...

Help me buy a vacuum- rainbow

Buying from an authorized seller for the warranty is a situation up to you. You're a 4 hour drive away, that is something to consider. How is that office? Some of them are shifty, fly by night type. I know a few have gone belly up in the outskirt cities around here. Our largest in contrast has...

Some Thoughts on Rainbow E2 Black

I think this is all about the office, and frankly that is going to be the make or break of it in any situation. I don't mind going and delivering a non pressure sales pitch. My wife has asthma. I bought my E Series Rainbow for next to nothing. It works great or I'd never have signed up, my wife...

    Fantom jackpot!

The Fury & others The copper color Fury was the Wal-Mart color. I was working in housewares there part time during college around the time those were out. Markup was actually pretty good, so Fantom was not paying a lot to make them even back then, but it was still a premium over most of the...

Some Thoughts on Rainbow E2 Black

Tom- I'm not going to argue with what a lot of Rainbow offices probably do in terms of pressure sales. I know for a fact it is true, but not all ofifices are like that. Our local office has been in business 25+ years and would be long gone if what they were doing didn't work (there were a few...

Some Thoughts on Rainbow E2 Black

I suppose "It's all about the sale" really depends on the office. As I said our local office is all about absolutely no pressure. They show the Rainbow, let the machine sell on it's merits. You are supposed to demo the machine, show what it does, tell the customer that you're done and that if...

Dyson long term durability vs. other brands

If Kirby or Rainbow moved production overseas I'm pretty sure you'd see the comparative drop in quality. Companies like Kirby and Rainbow have been around for so long because the vacuums have a reputation for quality. I use a circa 1960s Kirby to vacuum my garage carpet and it works perfectly...
