Yes, brush replacement is fairly easy as long as you have an extra brushroll. Otherwise, you could just buy a red Dirt Devil Handvac and use the brushroll from that. The green Dirt Devil Handvac I have actually came with all of the attachments except for the wand, and it came with the manual...

Darren, I believe the brushes are worn. My Green Dirt Devil Plus and my Black Dirt Devil 500 both do that. And I don't know about the scraping noise. Here is a pic of my green Dirt Devil Plus Handvac.
