Do central vacuums loose suction and airflow through the piping?

Of course, the longer the pipe, the more work that has to be done to move air through it. And a given motor/fan can only do X amount of work.

Miele s314 Red Star motor upgrade trouble

The real problem is not knowing what the control unit does and how it's wired. But hey, you got it.

    Rusty Hoover Armature Stuck

Well the bearings are already forfeit, so don't worry about destroying them. Just be sure to get the trade number off of them before you do, so you can buy new ones.

Stinky bagless vacs and bulky item day trash finds.....

I think a big part of the problem with bagless vacs and stinky pets is simply that the operators don't empty the damn things.

Sheared screw of rear axle on Kirby Classic 1CR

I look at it this way. If you sheared the screw by (over)tightening it, the screw is not stuck. It's just sitting there loosely. Some patience and gumption will get it out. Drilling is a last resort for this situation. You will only make it worse, or damage the hole. Just baby it out. I'd try...

Cable controls on Hoover power drive/self propelled uprights

The cable tube or sleeve is there to keep the geometry constant even though the cable isn't in a straight line. You adjust the cable by adjusting the clamp position of the tube. On my Hoover, the clutches were worn out, so I took the gearbox apart and shimmed them out.

    Electro Hygiene motor help

The field coil is the large ring-shaped iron core with copper windings. The photo makes it look crispy. Maybe take another picture? The commutator is the round brass part the carbon brushes ride on. Any non-detergent 30w oil will do.

    Electro Hygiene motor help

Brushes are fine, make sure they are not oily. Armature looks ok, maybe hit the commutator with a scotchbrite pad. The field looks crispy, but it's hard to tell from the photo. Other than that, make sure it's wired right, since somebody has clearly been in there before. And make sure the...

    Westinghouse Armature

It looks strikingly similar to a Cadillac armature. Now that's probably a long shot. It could be repaired, rather painstakingly. It would need to be rewound - most likely - and they do sell commutators by themselves. aliexpress, probably.

    Cadillac collectors

That's the typical Cadillac blower. They've been making those since the 20s. Haven't stopped yet. Funny, they're always on ebay for $300+ and of course they never sell. Even the vintage ones aren't desirable to anybody. They're industrial equipment, not antiques. This one's not even that old...

    Caligula

You know, in general, on the internet, people refer to one another by their handle / username. Not their irl name. If you prefer people call you Alex, maybe you should just say THAT instead of explaining why you named your cat after a Roman emperor with small feet every single time somebody...

What are the annular grooves in this motor's commutator?

I don't know for sure but I'll bet you the commutator is perfectly flat and normal. It's the brushes that have grooves in them and a motor with very very few hours on it would pick up the marks of the brushes' grooves before wearing them down enough to get past the grooves. I'll bet the grooves...

    Miele Electro Repair

Most of the folks around here are scared of those new-fangled circuit boards... >_> tbh, I myself won't mess with smd stuff, though to be fair, I'm simply not equipped to handle it. Yeah my advice would be to seek out a good board, or pictures thereof. Best of luck.

    1940s Royal Motor Diagram

I don't wanna be that guy, but it's a switch and a motor. Nothing else. I understand that not everyone is going to understand it. Line from the cord goes into the switch. Out of the switch goes to one wire on the motor. The other wire goes to Neutral on the cord. That's it.
