    Hoover Dimension 1000 NIB

WOW Anything NIB is so neat to see. The older, the better. Don't see a hose or power nozzle or wands...perhaps (hopefully) they are all in the bottom of the box. Worth the price, I would say. Surprised it's been for sale for so long.

    NuTone Central Vacuum

Loews Jersey Actually I have a pic saved (found online somewhere) of the machine at Loews Jersey! Shame about all the boxes and junk in front of it. Poor thing needs some TLC. If they don't recommission it and start using it again, let's hope they at least leave it be.

Fort Collins Craigslist: Eureka 500 Series Canister in Dark Green

When I was a kid, my great uncle gave me a model 702-A. Light blue, same "turtle shaped" body style (very apt description, by the way!), blue braided hose. It had the "cord wrap" handle. Wasn't this model called the "Princess"? I remember noticing that the hose was totally airtight, and my...

    NuTone Central Vacuum

Nice setup! I'm glad you were able to get a new machine, post-fix. I like your shelves full of spares also. I, too, would never want to be without a central vacuum system. They are how I make my living, but also how I clean my own home. 100+ vacuums here and the only one I'm inclined to pick...

    Weird Kirby Mattress cleaning contraptions

But that's going to kill the dust mites! They just wanted to snuggle 😢

Celebrity central vacs - Jayne Mansfield

Looks like Jayne Mansfield had an early Filtex "Perma-Vac" (no doubt the dual motor "Super Twin Special" model, perhaps more than one of them)! Only the early ones had inlets like that with a button but no red light; the light came about in the mid 1960s in case the home was so large that you...

    Weird Kirby Mattress cleaning contraptions

Better vacuum really slowly, otherwise all that's going to do is give the dust mites a nice suntan.

    What Are These Antique Attachments?

I remembered seeing in my copy of "Vacuum Cleaning Systems" a reference to a compressed-air carpet renovator with an external bag and thumbed through the book just now. Lo and behold it mentions the Hotel Astor specifically as having had an installed compressed-air cleaning system! See above...

    HOSES AND ADAPTERS

There are tons (just search "vacuum cleaner adapter" on Google, Amazon etc and you'll see what I mean) but you need to know what you're trying to adapt to/from. a 1 1/4" (32mm) male handle end is considered "industry standard" and therefore "industry standard" tools will have 1 1/4" ID. Some...

6 year old me is sqealing in joy right now!

A small amount of blue arcing right where the brushes touch the commutator is normal and no cause for concern. If the arcing gets more significant or starts to wrap around the commutator, the motor is on its way out. I should save a bad motor and make a video about normal vs abnormal arcing.

    Vintage Electrolux recommendations?

To me this seems like mostly an aesthetic choice. Any vintage Electrolux with a power nozzle (at least once you get a new hose) will do a beautiful job. The 1205 and Golden J (which was still a model 1205) had a "decently powerful" motor and either a PN-1 or PN-2 power nozzle, respectively...

    Vacuum Store rugs.

You mean like one of these? Vac shops. This one came from my good friend's store that he took over (they had been a Hoover dealer for quite a few years). Since these were never sold to the public (obviously), there are not too many out there. My own shop was a longtime Sanitaire and Royal...

How to vacuum a bowling alley

Very cool! Looks like a copy (or private label?) of a Tornado...several other companies produced something similar. I worked on a commercial Filtex central vacuum (CTS-500 dual motor) that was originally installed in a bowling alley. My assumption was that it was used for general cleaning...

Eureka powersweep industrial shop vac E405 info

Interesting to see the ad touting "Especially Built for Home Use" when it says "Industrial Vacuum Cleaner" right on the thing. Also strange that they were advertising it as "the answer to shag carpet problems"...! Imagine.

    Won the 90s vacuum lottery!!!

Nice find! Weren't early versions of this machine called the Bissell "Plus"? I seem to remember those being available sometime in the 1990s in hunter green...perhaps there was a blue one too... This uses a Bissell Style 4 belt...I am not sure if there is a cross reference for those, but it...

very old possiblely 1909 whole house Vac system

You've got a "Rotrex" system there...an early wet/dry self-emptying central vacuum. Besides power and vacuum pipe connections, this machine would also have been connected to water and sewer. It mixed the dirt with water and sent it straight through the pump and into the sewer as a slurry. The...
