    Bagged thrift store sightings

Although I did not get this, I enjoyed seeing it yesterday. This caddy vac turbopower was in excellent condition. The soft panel is neat.

    I’m back after a while. Here’s a Eureka Ultra 7575.

In my original thread, I also forgot to mention that I replaced the fan, washers, and motor seal, too. The only part I did not have was the pulley, which I replaced today.

    I’m back after a while. Here’s a Eureka Ultra 7575.

Thanks, both of you. I am really enjoying this 7575a. The Ultra is a beautiful vacuum and great to use—lightweight, quiet, and powerful, but it has some design shortcomings compared to the more standard Eurekas/Sanitaires. EurekaPrince, you’re absolutely right about the bag strap. Mine was...

    I’m back after a while. Here’s a Eureka Ultra 7575.

Hey all, I’ve been away from the site for a while but found some pretty neat machines in that time. To start, here is the Eureka Ultra 7575 I restored. This was a dream machine of mine, so I’m glad to have it. I replaced the handle yoke, handle “spine,” outer bag, bottom bag retainer, cord...

    The Kenmore PowerCenters!

I saw a nice one in Dec 2021 and still kick myself for not getting it.

    Hoover Preferred

Inside the bag door, on the other side of the slit, there is a circle. I understood this to be where you would put an air freshener disc.

    Shop Vac Grinding Noise.

@huskyvacs 3-in-1 Electric Motor oil is non-detergent, and that’s specifically why I recommend it. See product FAQs. SAE 20 weight is not blanketly inferior to SAE 30. Higher speed applications usually want a lower weight as too high of a viscosity can lead to oil overheating. Vac motors...

    Shop Vac Grinding Noise.

The Chewbacca noise upon startup/shutdown can be cured if you put some 3-in-1 Electric Motor Oil (blue label) in the upper sleeve bearing.

    Dirt Devil Broom Vac (purple)

That’s very strange. I have never heard of a purple broom vac. I’d be curious to know more about it. This almost looks photoshopped, but it could very well be real Did they ever make a teal broom vac? I seem to remember a thread about a teal one not that long ago. Someone here won it on eBay...

In-depth look at an modern engineering marvel

I had a Miele S7 Salsa for a little while. This vacuum had been used without a bag dock by its former owner, so the motor impeller got filled with crud which threw it off balance. I disassembled the motor and gave it a good cleaning inside and out. After that, it was all smiles. It was...

How's this for a bit of comedy

I’ve never understood posts like these. It may not be the vacuum for you—or for me—but to some collectors, these are special, nostalgic things. Posts like these could be hurtful. Is there a need to poke fun?

    Rattling Noise From A G3

Sounds like the transmission is a high mileage unit, but that’s okay. As the others said, if it propels fine, I’d leave it. Transmission noises like that just come with age/use.

    What is your favorite Hoover?

Very nice Hoovers! I’ve had a decently wide array of Hoovers over the years, from Convertibles to Concepts, but my preference actually lies with one of Hoovers later “platforms.” Although others won’t feel the same as I do, my favorite Hoovers are Elites. Top two are my Legacy II 820 U4551-910...

Bags for an odd little vac

If you want a modern “synthetic fleece” bag, you could cut the top off a Sebo X or Felix bag and try that.

Myth busted: only aluminum vacuums can be polished

Thank you, huskyvacs! My genuine Hoover Style 190 belts arrived earlier than expected, so I installed one and a genuine Hoover HEPA type A bag and took some pics of the final result. This vac runs smooth! I’m very pleased.

Myth busted: only aluminum vacuums can be polished

@All Thank you, everyone! Yes, I used the Mother’s headlight polishing kit and simply followed the directions on the package. 1. 800 grit + water 2. 1500 grit + water 3. 3000 grit (dry) 4. Polish (applied using buffing ball) 5. Polish using soft microfiber towel. My belts arrive this...
