We service Dysons for several local churches, most run older models such as the DC01 and DC04. Most have had them for years, but we havent seen the soleplates wear like Matt shows. I guess it depends how much stone they use it on. 

We have a Roomba at home. Its very handy on the hard floors and great for getting under furniture, etc.

I always thought that, but American customers tell me they all have the double lock. Someone told me it was done there first to prevent Dyson being sued in the US in case a bin came off when carrying down the stairs.    Do any American members have this type of handle? ...

I agree about not fitting the correct motor retainer.    If you have fitted an Ametek motor in there, you need the Ametek retaining ring too. Leaving it off isn't really an option. 

Beko I think that double lock handle was standard in the US. 

I've never really noticed the difference in noise levels between the two cyclone types to be honest. I'll compare now you have mentioned it. 

Very nice.    Although personally, I would have put a purple stair tool on it to match the brush. 

We had a customer recently who brought her DC07 she bought from us back because of an "ear splitting noise" it was making.    We plugged it in and tried it. I asked her "When does it make the noise?"    She said, "Well, that's it! Can't you hear it?"    The machine sounded perfectly...
