The DC50 is really a very light duty machine. It is the feebler update of the DC24 but with more built in obsolescence. Suitable for pensioners without animals in a small apartment only. And riddled with design faults; see the link. And the comments. ...

The hose is now scrap, and all that will get it out is brute force. Get some WD40 up there. Pull on the wire spring, and then pull harder. It will come out eventually. 

I agree with Rob........ The DC17 seems an excellent machine, we just refurbed an imported one for our museum (video on Youtube) and it is a shame we never got these in the UK - they would have been a natural follow on from the DC14. 

Much obliged, Al.    I did Google map the company address, and it is a large house not a factory. A few minutes of digging showed the directors were a lawyer and a father and son who had links to other trades. So indeed, it looks like something manufactured elsewhere that was badged for them...

Chaika does mean seagull, and is also a brand of car. Chaika is a word that crops up in the Russian lexicon quite a lot actually.

I can read Cyrillic.    MMPO Kommunar will be the factory, the brand is Chaika, model 10k.    ГОСT is GOST, it refers to the government agency that checks appliances. A B in Cyrillic is a V, so the 220B is simply 220v. The middle of the three words above the voltage I recognise as "work"...
