    Oh I wanted My mother to buy one of these new!! I begged and begged, Nothing doing, 379.00 was way too much for a vacuum to her mind, so for 208.00 she bought a Hoover Celebrity 2 Powermatic that I DESPISED!!!!

    The uprights are In the other building with the mixers, The pink Lewyt came from a big house in Myers Park , in Charlotte, it was a lower priced model made about the time of the Electronic, 59-69-61.

    Curious comparison??

    The Powercast Is a fantastic cleaning machine, but what a monstrosity, I won it at the 2007 VCCC convention, and traded it to Tom for a new Metro tank, which I still have and love,a Kirby is big and heavy enough, but that thing is a real monster!

    It was a1205 I think back to the early 80s working in a vac shop, Like Tom, then I had no use for uprights, we threw out tons of convertibles, Westinghouse Converto Vacs, and old Eurekas , then I had no appreciation for them,now I am 52, not 17 and I know better, the stuff we were selling then...

    The main problem with the garage was Not only the heat, but if the weather changed, and you opened the door , everything sweated,with the basement the temp will stay constant.

    Iveys in Charlotte NC Sold these new, I remember them when I was 10 or so years old, I remember they really seal down to the carpet and vibrate the dickens out of it!

    i just moved them down there, its much better than the hot garage I had them in, and this basement is not very damp, plus im running a dehumidifier too

    Kirby discontinued Their moth crystalator because it was proven Paradichlorobenzine fumes can trigger a asthma attack, I fumigated my vacuum storage basement just today with a Electrolux vaporizer and moth crystals, might not be good for you, but spiders etc will STAY AWAY!

    Thats a old vacuum salesmans trick I can come behind both of them with a straight suction Filter Queen and get a pile of dirt, Try it, it sounds impossible, but it really does work!

    It looks like It will filter better than the Rainbow , the air has much more travel area thru the water.
