    New royal vac

Well congrats, you got a great price out of it. I have to agree about what one of those would normally go for but you found the right bidder and being NIB probably was a big reason. I was given a Royal 5700 on Craigslist that I got lucky on. Not near that nice and pretty used but everything...

Do ya ever just pull out what you’re ‘feeling’??

The 5700 is a early 90s top of the line upright with the chrome wheel covers, adjustorite, foot adjuster pedals etc. I have a thread on it here with pics. I think it has the 7 amp motor 9 blade impeller. It is a beast and works well. I got lucky and found it free on Craigslist. If you find my...

Do ya ever just pull out what you’re ‘feeling’??

Used the Royal 5700 to do the carpet in the main areas last weekend and using the Compact C9 to clean the areas the parrot likes to eat over today. Man the 5700 beast sure grooms the carpet.

Should I sale my Rainbow or keep it?

I set a search on Craigslist for the things I want and they e mail me all the latest additions every day. I like Royal vacuums so I have a search for them and that's how I found a free top of the line Starks/Royal 5700 upright, and my 4650 Canister for 25 bucks. I get a lot of hits for Kirbys as...

Stark/Royal Classic PowerTeam 4650, repair questions

Still using my 4650 I know when I'm doing my carpet it actually pulls it up and vibrates the carpet around the head like crazy so I think the suction is very strong but I have nothing to measure it with. They really need the variable speed slider as when doing throw rugs it'll pick them up and...

wands rusting metal extension tube vacuum stuck!?!?!?

I had the same problem with the one I got from mom. It turns out all the dust and hair and gunk was built up between the two tubes where they slide into each other. I twisted and pried till they came apart and cleaned out as much of the gunk as possible and they come apart way easier. I'd take...

    What really are stick vacuums?

Parrot Once we are settled in for the day we release the hound. He's preening and snoozing on the TV right now. He loves the fuzzy blankets on my recliners and the trim boards they put up to cover the cheap wall board seams on the areas that don't use drywall on this manufacturered home. He is...

    What really are stick vacuums?

I keep the Dirt Devil versa power stick vac beside my parrots cage. It's powerful enough to pick up most of the seed and pellet crumbs he loves to drop on the linoleum below him. I paid 20 shipped years ago on Amazon and thought I killed it but broke it back out recently and turns out it works...

    Vacuum lines on carpet

Speaking of soleplates... I like the lines, it looks cool and shows that you actually bothered to vacuum, plus lets you know where you've cleaned. And speaking of sole plates I need a replacement for my Royal 4650 power head as both carpet guards have broken out because it's plastic and old...

Do ya ever just pull out what you’re ‘feeling’??

Kelton the 4650 is a true early hepa paper bag machine as far as I know and there are high quality and regular factory cheaper bags available for it. I also have a 413 Royal power tank and pretty sure it uses the same bag, just less powerful motor and a smaller not quite as good power head with...

Do ya ever just pull out what you’re ‘feeling’??

I got moms old C9 Compact/Anthony James vacuum going so I've been using it a lot after putting a new motor in it and lubing everything up and getting the powerhead running ok with a new belt. I think my Royal 4650 canister or my 5700 upright have more power and get edges better but the Compact...

    Compact c9 detailling

I think the catch is that you don't leave the cleaner on the rubber a long time it should be fine. You could always test it out in the back side of the bumper and see how it reacts.

    Putting the Compact to work

Well you should post some pics, the early machines are similar but some of the features changed over the years like the way the exhaust port is setup.

    Putting the Compact to work

Thanks, didn't really want to have to replace another motor so soon so we'll see how it does now that everything is loosened up and working properly again. One thing I like is it's pretty quiet compared to my other two Royals and yes the bag is super easy to change or just dump out seeing how...

    Putting the Compact to work

New belt Well I tried to use my C9 today and the brush was hardly spinning so I broke out the second new belt that was in the bag Starks sold us and now the brush spins like it should again so maybe I didn't have the brush roll freed up and lubed well enough or I ran over too much junk right...

    Putting the Compact to work

Belt and powerhead motor for mine Rex, I put a brand new belt in it right after I replaced the main motor. The thing sat in moms closet for 30 years and everything was dead or almost locked up after all that time and the main motor something was loose inside but it still tried to work. It's...

    The right kind of crazy...

Well just looked it up and that brilliance looks like a nice upright style vac, hadn't researched one but looks like a high quality machine.

    Putting the Compact to work

Yeah I looked them up and there are plenty for 30 or less shipped but I have other projects I'm working on now that have soaked up most of my toy and project money. My car needs new tires, trying to get the upgraded European projector headlights I paid 180 for finally for my sisters 300m, stuff...

    The right kind of crazy...

I now have a Compact C9, Royal/Stark 4650 canister, Royal 413 canister, Royal/Stark 5700 upright, and some battery and ac stick vacs. I think my favorites are the 4650 and the 5700 depending on what I'm doing and which ones handy but I've been using the Compact and it does very well with a new...

Why am I fascinated with vacuum cleaners?

I like things that do their job well and are built like tanks, plus are serviceable and easy to fix. I like cars, computers, electronics, vacuums, washer and dryers, anything I can work on and modify to my liking. Actually I like tons of things and always try to find the best whatever for my...
