    Will the Vibra-Groomer II fit

They are similar but the belt drives them in a different spot. I think you'll need to find a VGII that was designed for the powerhead.

    Snagged another Hoover Celebrity

Nice vac. I'm glad I'm not the only person here that drives a carbureted vehicle.

    Brushroll Dilemma

That's why I like Sanitaires, packs of brush strips are $5.95 and last a while. Sorry I don't have any suggestions for you. I barely know those vacs, but if they have the brushrolls like I'm thinking of (the ones we stock), there is no alternative style. Again, could be wrong on that, though.

One of the last vacuums to finish my collection

That's not one of the Everlast series. That's one of the 90's Royals with a new bag put on. Get it anyway, the 90's motors are better than the current ones. The old awesome logo is a dead giveaway that this it pre-TTI, as are the little "hubcaps". I personally like Royals a little better than...

    Dial-A-Matic Suction Question

No, the motors are huge and well made, and they are two stage, but Windtunnels are more powerful. Just about any modern clean air upright has more suction power. DAMs do have good airflow, so they do clean pretty well, but they don't pull close to the level of vacuum.

    What kirby should I find?

MMM nice looking Kirbys. I really like the Heritage II, but I like the classics, traditions, and heritages. I find the new ones really ugly, but the self-propel is great.

    It's so hideous...

My eyes! My eyes! Ouch. Seriously, I drive a car with woodgrain on it and it looks great, but that canister is even worse than the green one (which is awesome in it's own hideous way).

    Dial A Matic

It's too bad you didn't like the DAM, but that is a nice Spirit canister. They clean really well, and the motors are damn near indestructible. The only issue is the switches on models like yours are a real Rube Goldberg device. I hate them, but luckily you can put a plastic Eureka "stomp" switch...

I got another Power Tank :D

Okay, most likely is that the wires that go to the potentiometer PCB are loose and not making a good connection.

    Dial A Matic

Oh, post some pictures of the bottom plate removed (brushroll etc exposed).

    Dial A Matic

Rebuilding a Dial a Matic is kind of fun (ok for me at least). They are a nice challenge, and their motors are very interesting. I have a tired (but clean) DAM in line for a rebuild, but it picks up very well. DAMs are very prone to loosing suction when the fans in the motor get coated with...

    Royal Vacuum Woes

Hmm. Most Royals will spit the belt right off if it is on backwards. I wonder why it didn't.

I got another Power Tank :D

What model of machine is it? Does it have the speed control on the hose handle, or the body of the machine? PowerTanks are really easy to work on- I'd be happy to post step by step photos.

    My new early 90s....

I had a lady come into the store yesterday needing a hose for one of those. She said she will never buy a new one, she loves it so much. She said she loved her PowerTank even more, but her daughter took it when she moved out.

    Royal Vacuum Woes

People like to deny it all the time, but with the kind of vacuuming we all do, belts need to be replaced every 3 months at a minimum. Worn belts can cause problems on almost every vacuum, but they will bend the belt shaft slightly on a Royal if it gets too bad (the heat).

I got another Power Tank :D

Sounds like it's time for a motor overhaul (new brushes and bearings). Like he said, try using a brush seater, otherwise take it to a motor shop to have the commutator milled (not expensive). It would be exceedingly rare for the armature to be bad (shorted). Usually they just get worn, and need...

    what is your guess?

Wow, completely random, but nice Peavey speakers. I love their stuff.

    Royal All-Metal Uprights - Adjust-O-Rite

No, it works, but I've never found it to be very useful. I think you push the button in and watch how far it comes back out, or something like that. It takes a long time to mess with and any of us can set a vacuum to the right height by ear.

    Royal Power Tank motor substitution

Sounds like bad bearings and excessive arcing from the brushes. Those are tough motors, I'll bet it isn't shorted. More than likely that burning smell was the stuck front bearing spinning in the rubber bearing sleeve, burning it up.

Well....I found some more rare stuff!!!! VACUUMS!

Wait- what's up with that cord on the Singer? Nice finds.
