Yeah, if I have time, I'll take pictures of mine.

    Eureka Self-Propelled Upright Vacuums

No, actually Eureka got into some pretty advanced physics. The self propel is driven by magnetics and controlled by telepathy. The handle is there for show. They got to be too expensive to produce, which is why Eureka stopped making them. No, actually, there is a cogged belt under the hood...

    Filter Queen

If you're hearing a crackling noise, the motor brushes may not be seated and may be arcing. If that's the case, it won't run at its full speed and power.

    Bisons?????

I heard that the designer of the Bison used to work for Kirby, and left because he felt that he had been wronged. Could be total BS, but who knows.

    Greasy/Dirty sales tactics?

Long before I started working at my store, my coworker told me about a vacuum a lady had brought in after visiting one of our competitors. This guy is a crook- we're always fixing shoddy things he does. But he told this lady she needed a new vacuum. All my coworker did was replace the belt and...

    MieleS5 vs aerus guardian

I don't mean to distract, but I would go for a Sebo K3. It's similar to the Miele, but (IMO) made better. Plus the powerhead (again, IMO) is better. However, if it has to be between the original two, I would go for the ultra lux, only becuse I'd never buy a Miele. We just have too many coming...

Motor operating temperature, normal or abnormal?

My DJ runs pretty hot, but it certainly doesn't melt or warp any motor shields. I think yours is running a little hot. Does the motor sound labored? I'm not a lux expert, but I didn't think they made motors that mounted anything else but horizontally. For us Americans, 60c is 140 degrees...

Vintage ELECTROLUX Automatic Model setting question

You do know that when you have a full bag, you are taking a load OFF the motor, right? You're allowing it to run faster, and there really isn't a problem with that EXCEPT not enough air is flowing to keep the motor cool. So you're right, it's not a good idea, but you've got it backwards...

New vacuum for needy family for Christmas

Agreed. We sell a lot and they are good vacs. The only thing lousy about them is the switch. They burn up frequently (that's not dust- it's a poorly engineered switch), and they can also get stuck. That is very nice of you.

    The commercial Kirbys

Yeah, I've got to confess, I like them too.

    Cleaning out the file cabinets

Well, today at work we rearranged the whole store, so I had to organize our files. We're getting rid of a ton of old brochures, but I saved a pile as I figured some of you might want them. Lots of commercial Hoover fliers, Royal and Dirt Devil lineups (can vac manuals as well), lots of...

Very nice! Those are my favorites.

    Oil or grease bushes?

Bushings, a.k.a. sleeve bearings should be oiled with a lightweight machine oil. Ball bearings get grease, but you shouldn't grease them anyway- always replace them if they're worn.

    Aerus Electrolux

It seems to me from experience that their circuit boards are prone to failure. I've have to replace an astonishingly large amount. Also, the joints at the base of their powerheads are weak, kind of like the newer TriStars. Some of the models are a bit clunky to use. However, we are an Aerus...

    Vintage Sanitaire (AWSOME FIND)

Amways are made very well, but they do not create a lot of airflow. Tool suction is a joke. However, mine sucks up cat litter like nothing I've ever seen. One pass does the trick. It's amazing. However, on regular jobs, even my 300 watt Electro Hygiene 880 runs circles around it.

Measuring Motor Speed and Sound Power Levels of Our Favorite Vacs

Arrgh! Who made that video? You don't wheel a Royal around like that. I'm so tired of fixing the problems related to people doing that. Certainly is a nice one though.
