Who makes the Aerus Guardian Platinum?

Aerus needs to keep it simple. Take the Legacy (since it's the only model left with the automatic control), make it a sealed system with a HEPA bag, and put a legitimate HEPA filter on it. Get rid of the bulky plastic hose handle and wands. Take the classic hose, switch to crush proof material...

    Best vacuum for shag carpeting

If it's a true shag carpet, not the shorter frieze variety, then you would only want to use a straight suction canister on it. A rotating brush would damage it. There are shag rug carpet tools for canisters.

    New Rbow SRX power nozzle

Well it is definitely a step in the right direction. The SRX power nozzle was shameful. The E2 Black with the side mounted geared belt was the best power nozzle Rainbow designed. They had finally got rid of the stretch belt and moved it out of the dirt path. Although I'd prefer they just call...

    Forgotten Central Vacuum Accessories

There used to be an accessory called "drawer-vac". It used a drawer panel in a kitchen or bathroom cabinet connected to the vacuum tubing. You would open it up and sweep debris off the counter into it.

    SRX power nozzle

I never understood why they would put the belt back in the middle of the air path in the power nozzle. The had finally got it right with the previous generation in introducing a geared side-mounted belt. Of course they would have done even better to just have contracted Wessel-Werk to supply an...

    New Filterqueen $1199 & Kirby $1295.

I find it quite odd that some of you seem mortified at the thought of Kirby being sold at retail. Why? It's their business, not yours. And it seems even Kirby can't deny how sleazy the door to door salesmen are. This is a way to avoid that and sell direct.

Belt for Samsun Quiet Stormn canister vacuum

Keep in mind that your old belt is all stretched out. That's why it needs to be changed. Naturally a new one will be smaller and tighter.

The horrible truth about central vacuum systems and why every non-Canadian millennial hates them.

Are people that hard up for cash? My house came with a fancy jet tub that I've never used but I've never thought of ripping it out and trying to sell it on Facebook. It's part of the home and if I sell the house then someone else may very well want that feature. The power unit hanging on the...

The horrible truth about central vacuum systems and why every non-Canadian millennial hates them.

I don't know about any legal requirement but I do know a good deal of Canadian homes are at least pre-plumbed for central vacuums. On one of the retailer sites they claimed to have done thousands. I imagine it's an easier sell for the power unit and accessory kit if the plumbing is already in...

Do central vacuums actually deep-clean carpets as good as a portable?

Thank you Ultralix88 for your informative and polite post. You explained it well in simple terms and I really appreciate that!

    Blackheart's Canavac Tests

Dude, you clearly believe your Kirby is the best vacuum. Great, enjoy it. No one starts threads trying to take that from you. For those of us quite happy with our central vacuums, why can't you give us the same courtesy? Why is it bothering you so much? You can throw up as many spreadsheets as...

    Blackheart's Canavac Tests

Kirbylux77, I'm almost certain that was his intent in starting this thread. I'll take the word of professionals like Owen who know these systems backwards and forwards.

Kirby Is Now Selling Direct Online

A step in the right direction. There are plenty of vacuum shops that service all brands. I really couldn't care less if this hurts all the sleazy Kirby reps. Good riddance.

Do central vacuums actually deep-clean carpets as good as a portable?

I've noticed that some vacuum fans don't like central vacuums for whatever reason and so they come around and make stuff up. The premise of this thread is just absurd.

Do central vacuums loose suction and airflow through the piping?

I watched the video and I never heard him mention anything about the piping losing suction like the OP asked. The video explained why you need a bigger motor to move larger volumes of air. Which is understandable. There's no suction being lost. Just not enough suction for longer runs. As for...

Canister Vacuum recommendation - repair or replace?

Seems like you got a good run out of the machine. I'd say time to replace. The Sebo E3 or Miele C3 Marin would be a good match for you. Good solid machines that will give you a very long service life with proper maintenance.

    Aerus Lux Guardian Platinum

Just bring back the Guardian Ultra with an option of the classic or Legacy style hose and attachments and call it a day. I'd say bring back the Ultralux but modern machines need HEPA filtration.

Considering buying a Lux Legacy - question though

Yes it will work just fine. No issue at all.

    David Vacuums

I'm no fan of TTI but I'm not sure how they have diminished the Oreck product line. As I understand it, the Oreck was always woefully underpowered. Some even referred to them as electric carpet sweepers. So this new "David" vacuum is quite the upgrade since it uses the much more powerful Tacony...
