No parts and no after sales service doesn't apply to Shark. At their price point most consumers will just get another cleaner. If it lasts a year or 2 they would be happy. That is partially why it is priced the way it is.

@Brian, Completely agree... the Miele Uniq is not worth it for the features. That is a ton more to pay for some velvet and a longer warranty vs the next "level" down which is the Marin. You can get the same setup, minus buttons on the hose for all settings and save $400+.

@georgect, I hear where you are coming from but everyone's cleaning requirement is different. To some the short cord of Miele is a drawback, to others it is not a deciding factor. Hoses... well if you didn't get the capricorn or the uniq then the hose is actually longer on the other...

I would live to have or borrow a platinum for a week or two to use in our home for a true comparison against the Miele. That 15 year warranty is nice.

I am sure the platinum is on the top of its game but I don't think I would trade the miele in for it. :). I did cross shop the miele with the platinum however the store/dealer experience didn't leave a good impression at all with the Mrs so it got removed from the list. I still plan to revisit...

The green one (Kenmore 29229) is a really nice looking color. I never thought I would find vacuum color interesting at all but they are growing on me.

My buddy has the Lift Away. I have played around with it for about an hour checking it out. It is a pretty nice machine for the price.

It would have to be a insane discount / street price. The older power nozzle is supposed to clean carpets better and the thing supposedly has many repair issues. There are tons of video about the ultraone. Even one showing how "sealed" the system is using a tiny smoke machine. It looks...

Only a couple more months and we will see what innovation they bring.
