Probably the same as the Oreck brush vac, the Kirby Vacuette (Legend II era), and some other brands too.

Shetland Lewyt - A Forgotten Brand?

Thanks a bunch guys. I found some more info in my own research about Shetland that might help with the pre Lewyt info. See link. Doug: Do you think you could post a picture of that motor. It's just so different. I also looked at you web site, and the low end model in green and white is almost a...

Shetland Lewyt - A Forgotten Brand?

Ok, now for a brand you don't hear about everyday. When I was young, my mother got a Shetland Lewyt, which was third hand. It sat in my Grandmothers garage for a fairly long time after she inherited it. I guess it spent a fairly long time out there before it was given to my mother and put to use...

    riccar on its way

That's a very nice machine. Good color. My room mate from college last year got a used Simplicity for his new apartment. It was very simple, and very well built. I'm starting to think this style of machine is really the superior modern upright vacuum design. I hope your mother likes it.

    vacuum followed me home today!

I'm thinking you might have the same problem that I do. My 5 amp Eureka got to a point where it will have a hard time driving the brush roll even when lifted off of the carpet. I'm thinking it might be a worn belt pulley on the motor. I suppose it might also have become slicked for some reason...

    I need some opinions

I guess that he could have a bunch of them, a former dealer perhaps? He also could be ripping people off, or they're stolen. You really never know. He does have pictures of the boxed ones, but the images can always be reused or taken from another listing.

    Eureka Vanguard

What is the exact origin of this plastic anyway? It sounds like something must be seriously damaged to produce that much broken plastic. The outside looks just fine though, which makes your problem that much more interesting.

    Im in a pickle...

If the innovation that you saw was the same one that I saw, I don't expect it to stay at $20. It already has 7 bids in the first 24 hours, although it has just 2 bidders. That seller seems to get fairly high prices too. Just a thought.

    New Electrolux model

Speaking of price, I thought the guardian was $1500, and anything over that was against company policy.

    New Electrolux model

Can't wait to see it. I've got a few questions though. 1) Is this a evolution of the Guardian or is this an all new design? 2) Is the new bag a actual type c bag, or an all new bag? 3) Any power nozzle changes? 4) Any effects on other models?

    Hoover Dial a Matic

Thats also an idea, considering that I have a model 30 in my collection already, along with the paper bag converter for it. It just has some motor issues, primarily from explorations of its workings when I was younger. I guess the model 30 motor is not the best project for beginners. The later...

    Hoover Dial a Matic

Ok, so I've looked over all of your comments, and here's where I'm at. Lux Blue Model G: Quiet, stylish, classy, easy to store under a bed. I already have most of the tools for a model G, although not original ones. Hoover Dial A Matic: Fairly self contained, bright colors, durable, good...

    Hoover Dial a Matic

Sounds good. I'm going with some kind of vintage machine because I want a nice decoration in the room, and I also want a potential conversation piece. I've gotten tired of concealing my vacuum collection from my friends, and I want a machine that would leave a good first impression. Something...

    Hoover Dial a Matic

Ok guys, so I'm not much of a expert when it comes to Hoovers after 1930 or so, but I've been looking at the Dial A Matic, and it seems like a very interesting design, but I don't really know much about it. I have repair diagrams for them, but I would still like to know more about the air...

    "Troy' hand vac

Could you give a better description or a picture? Perhaps the material or design features. It could be a private label machine from another manufacturer.

Has anyone seen one of these before? The yellow bag looks original to me. This is on craigslist.

    DDM Press Launch: The Videos

It looks like a blisk (aerospace term - bladed disk). I looked over some at a college job fair when an turbine manufacturer happened to be there and had examples of their products. I'd say overkill for a vacuum, but thats just me.

    DDM Press Launch: The Videos

Just out of curiosity, what is the fan diameter on this thing? I didn't bother to do the math, yet, but it seems that if you had a standard diameter fan at 104k RPM, the outer parts of the blade would go supersonic and potentially cause disturbances in air flow, assuming that my knowledge of...

    new royal clone

I've never seen a Royal clone that I though of as being modern. This is a new development. I never really expected this kind of thing since the TTI takeover. It looks like the base model commercial cleaner that was painted. I don't think its offered as a Royal anymore, but I'm not 100% sure of...
