Thank's for the welcome, and a repair frustration

I have heard plenty of circuit board problems in the recent Electrolux vacuums, but those are the ones with the automatic suction control and/or electric hose. I had basic (manual motor speed control) straight suction UltraOne about 5 years in daily use without any problems. Would I buy another...

    So...Daily Drivers? (pre 1995)

Definitely my Volta U258 from 1988 (Electrolux 2000-series). It has excellent build quality, long hose, low noise level and good suction. It is also capable to run turbo brush at high speed, so it works on the all surfaces. To give my carpets a deep clean I use my 11 years younger Kärcher...

Electrolux Aeg pulls floor care from SouthAfrica

UltraOne sure is built very well. For example the back wheels have a proper bearings and they run extremely smooth. Motor mounting is so called "floating" so noise and the vibrations from it are minimal. To ensure maximum air flow whole airpath is designed to have a very smooth flowing channels...

New EU vacuums and half the suction

Here is a video of dirty air 250W vs clean air 1000W vacuum cleaner cleaning performance. Dirty air vacuum may not have a good suction, but airflow makes it pick up well. I think this video proves it. http://https//youtu.be/_uyvFDXXQv0

New EU vacuums and half the suction

That is the major problem, because most people don't know how to properly use the vacuum cleaner. I have come across people who use the parquet nozzle on the carpets to get extra agitation. Then like you said using the combination floor/rug tool wrong way. Laminate or wood floors don't exactly...

Electrolux Aeg pulls floor care from SouthAfrica

I had my UltraOne (basic model, no powerhead) for about 5 years without any problems. Some people has reported faulty circuit board. Left in the picture is the original and right updated.

    Has Anyone Ever Over-Vacuumed?

Some carpets just can't take any kind of agitation. So you can certainly over vacuum. Here is a example of the cheap nylon shag type rug after going over with the small Miele SEB-217 powerhead. All that carpet fibers was stuck to the brushroll after quick vacuuming.

New EU vacuums and half the suction

Exactly! But "normal" people who are looking for new vacuum cleaner they would think that fancy new Miele is superior. Sounds crazy, but most of the people have no idea what it takes to really clean the carpets.

Electrolux Aeg pulls floor care from SouthAfrica

That's very sad to hear :( Electrolux UltraOne is the best canister vacuum cleaner I have ever used (My opinion). It has dominated group tests in the Europe and I don't wonder why. Very quiet, powerful, good filtration and new full-size powerhead. Now the new model has corrected some reliability...

Sebo X4 Automatic - sensitivity of height adjustment

I have Sebo BS 360 clone, Kärcher CV 36/2 upright with the manual height adjustment. I love the manual height adjustment in it. For me it's the only right way to change the height. I wouldn't wan't to machine change the height for me.

    cloth or paper bags

I found the fleece bags for my Kärcher, but price is insane. 42,16 € for ten bags is just way too much. Paper bags are half the price, but I don't wan't paper bags. But then again large ten fleece bags should last a very long time...

That stuff on the carpet was very fine sawdust.

New EU vacuums and half the suction

I have to admit that my video wasn't exactly what this thread was originally about. There was just so much comments how it's not the suction that matters, it's combination of other things too and so on. So video was answer to that. Note that I use large fleece bags in this Volta and in Vorwerk.

New EU vacuums and half the suction

In Finland most of the people don't know anything about powerheads. We always have had straight suction canisters and some turboheads. Like you said the turbohead greatly benefits powerful suction. My all time favorite turbohead is made by Electrolux it has floating spring loaded brushroll...

New EU vacuums and half the suction

Old vs new This was more like a comparison let's say old Hoover Turbopower vs modern Miele Cat & Dog. Result would be the same. Modern people would never guess the result. That's the point. However I can re done the test using straight suction nozzle in both machines. That would show the...

New EU vacuums and half the suction

250 vs 1000 watts vacuum cleaning power So I finally made video just for this topic. Purpose of this test is to show will more powerful vacuum cleaner clean better or do you need more than the strong suction. This test also shows how the new low wattage EU canisters compare to the old dirty fan...

    cloth or paper bags

cloth Definitely cloth bags. My newest vacuum cleaner is 17 years old and I use cloth bags in all of my vacuum cleaners. Reason is what have been said here before: Bag compartment stays clean, it doesn't lose suction and cloth is more durable material. When I bought my Kärcher CV36/2 (SEBO...

New EU vacuums and half the suction

One thing to mention. When you use canister with the powerhead or upright. Then it is the brushroll what do most of the work. Then suction certainly doesn't matter unless it's poor. Uprights usually have slightly weaker suction than canisters, but they still clean better due to the effective...

New EU vacuums and half the suction

This Henry 620W is just amazing and good example how it is possible to get a good suction from the low wattage motor. Here is my own test (turbo brush spin speed) Small differences in my opinion. Volta 1000W Samsung 1200W Electrolux 2100W Philips 2200W

New EU vacuums and half the suction

That Hoover "carpet extra" nozzle is horrible. It is one of those things what make you wonder what they were thinking when designing it. And to make the matters worse you have to change the nozzle every time when you go from carpet to hard floor and vice versa. After all numerous nozzles that I...
