I've used the Handi Butler and gotten very good results with it, as long as there are no deep gouges or heavy pitting of the metal.  Only problem now is that it is very hard to find belts for it.

I have a Silverado as well and I love it.  PN is not original that came with the machine, and I had to replace the hose, but other than that it is an awesome cleaner.  I got it from someone here on VL, but I just can't remember who.  Whoever it was, thanks again. 

When it comes to Electrolux bags, I like the Hepa style C bags made by Perfect in my Silverado.  They are a little pricier than normal Electrolux C bags, but I think they are worth it.

It can if it is used with the shroud on, it will suck up a lot of the dust.  With the shroud off, then no, it won't.

This is a Classic 1-CR that I found in a thrift shop made to look like a Tradition.  We used to have a local vac store that used to advertise new Kirby vacuums with attachments for $299.  It was these, and when you went in to buy one, he tried to switch you to a Royal.

I think my VitaMix states on it that it is 70% made in the USA.  I always wondered why it said that.

Bad field coil Well, that machine is just a little over a year old, so it should still be under warranty. If you continue to use it with a bad field, then the new armature you put in it is going to be ruined, if it isn't already. How did you get the armature covered under warranty? The field...

Isn't that machine still under warranty?  I'd take it back to the Kirby dealer and have them repair it.  If it is smoking only on the high speed, then I would suspect a shorted field coil.  Another symptom would be the machine would get super hot.

I noticed that too Ben So much for the all original claim. Bet when the seller bought it, it was new to him, not new in the box, or it would have had the cardboard attachment case. When I started selling Kirby in 1980, the Tradition had the cardboard case, then the blue case came out.

I just bought a Tradition On eBay (item # 161130742739) and it's serial number is F512059. According to above, it was made between July 79 to February 80. By the pictures, it looks like a newer build than that. Anyone have any thoughts?

I've been seeing ads on TV for the white model, and they state that it is a Wal-Mart exclusive, whatever that means.  If it's available from Amazon, then how can it be exclusive?
