    Recent finds

It's been a while since I've made a post, so I've gotten many new machines since then! To start: -Non PN Rainbow D2- cost me $50, pretty much complete except for the sprayer. It's in fairly good condition with some surface rust on the dolly. It runs with the usual bearing noise. The hose is...

Gorgeous! Some day I'll add one to my collection, when I have the funds to do so.

Top of your wish list sweeper?

Vintage Canisters Lately, I've been into vintage canisters. High end stuff as well. Some uprights interest me but canisters are overall more appealing to me. I'd love an Atlas or Universal Jet to contrast with my Compacts!

New to the club 1985 Filter Queen model 700

Welcome to the club and beautiful Filter Queen! I have an earlier model 700 Filter Queen, from 1977. I got it about a year ago at a thrift store for $20. Bissells have good suction and clean very well but they filter horribly and are a chore to maintain. The higher-end Healthy Homes on the...

What are you oldest most cherished vacuums?

My oldest/most cherished My oldest vacuum is my 1922 Hoover model 105. My 1926 General Electric 69 is close behind in age. My most cherished would still have to be my 1997 Fantom Thunder because it was the first vacuum I ever got for my collection when I was 11 years old (I'm almost 18 now.)

    Royalaire motor issues

Hello all, I recently purchased a lot of four vintage vacuum cleaners, one of which is a Royalaire tank. The motor sounds shot, but I'm not sure if it's just the carbon brushes. It's sparking a bit. Do they still sell carbon brushes for these? Would a different motor fit inside it?

    cloth or paper bags

The "hype" should really be on Hepa FILTERS, not BAG Hepa filters on their own are useless unless the rest of the system is completely sealed. I agree with you in that instance. However, it is a simple fact that Hepa bags are much more efficient than paper bags in regards to motor protection...

New finds from last two months!

To start: Two new Kirbys- 513 and 561. (515 in middle I already had, but it got re-vamped with original Kirby parts.) They came from a guy in the city whom I bought two dozen Kirbys from. These two I'm keeping, the others are sold, or waiting to be sold/donated. They work well. Air-Way 88-...

    cloth or paper bags

There is really no good reason to use paper bags anymore. They clog up fast, don't expand well and are bad for the environment. These days, it really isn't all that more expensive to buy HEPA bags online, especially in bulk. They really DO improve airflow and filtration. You can also MAKE HEPA...

Fantom Fury ( gold ) restoration. NEED INFO!

Fantom Fury The copper/gold colored Fury was exclusive to Wal-Mart. The silver Fury was the "mainstream" model sold everywhere else, after the 10 amp Fury was discontinued. As far as the value goes, like any other machine it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. There are several on...

    Kirby Sentria II warranty transferrable?

I am selling a Kirby Sentria II for a friend. It is 1 1/2 years old. My question is, could the 1 1/2 years or so left on the warranty transfer if I have the original paperwork?

    The Thrift Stores today

Lucky find I found a Kenmore Drytech last month at Amvets for $20. It runs flawlessly I also found a few days later, a newer Panasonic Jet Flo for $5 and a Kirby G4 for $40. I rarely find something truly interesting to buy so the Drytech was a score. Now I have two Drytechs.

    Amway CleratTrak

They are OK As long as you keep the filters below the Cyclone clean, they are fairly good cleaners. Carpet cleaning performance won't beat a Kirby or Royal but it still cleans fairly well. I like that the cyclone assembly is very easy to take apart and clean. Suction power isn't great, as are...

Rainbow E2 Separator Stuck to fan housing

Thanks for the advice! It's going in to the shop next weekend. I did NOT tap the threaded end because I don't have enough experience to not damage it.

Gorgeous! That just might be your jackpot! It's condition looks amazing too. I have a Lewyt Electronic but the powerhead is missing. It's very rare indeed.
