    Consumer Reports

I used to be a subscriber to them as well..... I quit that long ago. I have articles from 1996-2007, and from 2010-2014. NUMEROUS times, their testing has been inconsistent. Several models, such as the Hoover Windtunnel canister, Windtunnel Ultra, and Tempo's had ratings that changed, even...

    Recently acquired Amway CMS-1000

I had one that was NOS a few years ago I think they are better than some people think. Decent build quality and decent carpet cleaning performance. Filtration and auction/airflow are meh but pretty much on par for uprights of that time period. Very outdated by modern standards though.

Does anyone else avoid using vacuums because they fear they're going to break

Also I agree that you should not use that as a daily driver. Those Furys just don’t hold up like the Thunders do. They also have no where near the cleaning ability of the Thunder. Use one of your newer vacuums for your daily driver and the Fantom for occasional use.

Does anyone else avoid using vacuums because they fear they're going to break

That’s not a broken pedal That’s part of the main lower housing assembly. In order to fix that, you would need a whole new housing. Very easy to replace once you find the housing. I don’t see why you would need to get rid of it just because of that. It sounds like you are just overreacting...

    Bissell 3512-9

Not really that uncommon You’re right this was pretty much the equivalent of a cheap Walmart vacuum for it’s time. I’ve had two of these, one branded Bissell and one branded Singer. Bissell bought out the Singer vacuum division around 1996 ish and continued to make these low-end uprights until...

New Old Stock Eureka Whirlwind Power System from 1998

Thanks! It’s a really neat machine and it’s an interesting design. I wonder why they didn’t sell well.

New Old Stock Eureka Whirlwind Power System from 1998

I am fortunate to own this very unusual machine. At first glance, it seems like a decent vacuum. Enjoy!

New old stock Fantom Vacuum from 1996!

If you want to hear what a brand new Fantom sounds like, check out the video! It still has that “new” smell and its black plastic is still super shiny!

    Fantom Crosswind eBay DISHONEST SELLER

It's fascinating to me Literally everyone has seen a Dyson commercial. Fantom didn't do too badly with commercials back then either. I just purchased an 11 Amp "Fantom" brand new in the box, from 1994. It was meant to be sold at "Electric Avenue" for $329.99- not cheap in 1994/1995. It will not...

    Fantom Crosswind eBay DISHONEST SELLER

I am fortunate enough to own a Crosswind 600XL... I purchased it last summer for a decent amount of money, although nowhere near $500. This is the "Crosswind" version of the Fantom Cyclone XT. It appears to have hardly been used at all. One thing to note, when I bought it, it came with a dust...

The MOST RAREST Eureka Whirlwind Vacuum. Ever!!!

There was also a Kenmore version Called the “Cyclonic Cleaning System.” It had a few extra features: a headlight, height adjustment, and motor speed control. Sold very briefly around 2001-2002.

A NOS Fantom Has Been Spotted

Great! Can't wait to see it! The one I got is an 11 Amp "Fantom" but it has the black trim, not the white. The box also has graphics on it, similar to the Thunder's of the same era. I would guess it was made around 1995-1996.

A NOS Fantom Has Been Spotted

Crazy price... But remember, that's about what they sold for new back in 1993 when they were new... With inflation, that would be even more today. I made an offer on that one but they declined. I did however purchase the other model they had for sale (slightly different model) and it's on its...
