A new arrival at the Home for Wayward Vacuum Cleaners

I love my 1205, it was the first vintage vacuum I had. I was in middle school when I found it..I got it from a garage sale for free. At the time was family didn't have a working vacuum and we couldn't afford a new one so I used that Electrolux as a daily driver. We did eventually get a Hoover...

Kirby - Researching to buy my first Kirby

Most of the Generation Series are similiar, Kirby has made running updates over the years. Unless you have a preference on style I would suggest getting the newest machine you can get on your budget. My newest model is a Sentria and it's a lovely machine to use. Prior to that my newest was a G6...

Okay, NOW I am done....Fairfax Vac

Well here is a Genuine Kenmore Q/C bag for comparison. They are about the same length however the Fairfax bag is wider. The opening for the Q/C bag was just a smidge small for the Fairfax fill tube, it would have fit though just would have been tight. The cardboard collar on the Fairfax bag did...

Okay, NOW I am done....Fairfax Vac

Fairfax Last time I bought bags my black Fairfax I got them from ecovacuum.com, who is suppose to the official retailer and manufacturer or Fairfax machines. They sell regular paper bags or cloth bags, and you can get them in a combo pack with the flat filters. I don't know if the bag is from...

    This weekends haul...

Sebe P/N I have an older patriot and it is indeed and very powerful machine and the Sebo P/N is an excellent powerhead despite only have one row of brushes. The only beef I have with mine is that compared to the otherwise mechanically similiar powerhead for my Sebo built Windsor Versamatic...

    Kirbys and their boxes.

The Sentria box was for sale at goodwill, almost takes a nut to buy a box lol. I think it did have some attachments with it I don't really remember it was the empty box I wanted! Since I use the Sentria as a daily driver the box is storing my 2001 Limited Edition G6 Cameron

My Classic Oemga and The Heritage II were found as a complete set.

    Kirbys and their boxes.

Over the years of collecting I have came across several Kirbys boxes. I would imagine owners keep the box to store all the attachments it comes with, in my experience the average owner doesn't fuller utilize everything the Kirby comes with. I have only come across one other vacuum that was in...

    Rainbow D2 Chrome Dome

I found a Rainbow D2 Chrome Dome the thrift shop the other day and it seems to have followed me home. I guess it shouldn't be any surprise that a 50 year old water vacuum is going to prove difficult to take apart but anyways I guess I need a challange. Two questions so far, the screws that hold...

    Prochem PV12 surprise thrift find

Haven't head of it specificity but it probably is a rebadge. Remember though the Windsor lineup is just a rebadge too Sebo actually makes the machines. Look on the bottom plate it might say Sebo or at least made in Germany. The crevice tool that is on my Versamatic has a Sebo label on it. In...

    DC25 Post Motor Filter Howl

My Dyson ball also makes that strange "farting" noise as it powers down. My doesn't not whistle or whine while its running though thank goodness. May have to give the string trick a try, would certainly be a lot cheaper than buying a new one!. Cameron.

Help, Kenmore Direct Drive brush roll spinning backwards..

I got home from my holiday travels and had time to pop this beast apart. Unfortunately yours is much more complex than mine! Mine only has 4 wires. I'll put pictures up as a reference anyways. If it were my machine...I would probably start by switching the wires that lead into the brushes...

    My new daily driver

I've always wanted a wide path machine like that. I don't really have the room in my house to push one around lol but still cool looking. Cloth HEPA bags will really turn that into a great machine too...one of these days I"m going to convert my Blue Sanitaire from F&G bags to the ST style...

Help, Kenmore Direct Drive brush roll spinning backwards..

I have an older version of this. It is a bit of bulky machine, but I really like it. It is an innovative machine and it cleans well. I have taken my apart, and yes it is a bear to take apart. I don't know really know off hand about why it would spin backwards, my guess is there is a wire...

    Paragon Challenger Hand Vacuum

Very interesting find. Never heard of one before. A google search of Paragon Plastics reveals that the company is still in business. Looks like a neat little machine anyways. It's always fun to find something unusual like that! Cameron

    Finally Got a Sentria II

Very nice machine. Did you get any attachments with it? I have the "updated" Sentria I...I believe it is mechanically almost the same to the II except for the colors. I really like mine it is a fine machine. Cameron

    Poor Fantom...

Parts? Are you going to try and salvage this machine or part it out? I myself recently found a Thunder just like that one, but I need the cover for the hepa filter. When I was in middle school my neighbor bought a Fantom Crosswind from the JC Pennys catalog. She didn't like it and bought a...

    Nozzle CFM Tests

I always do use the cloth HEPA bags in my machines whenever possible. In my experience those Riccars make a nice throaty roar with a fresh bag...maybe its just me who knows lol. Many of the machines listed are all great cleaners, even if they don't post incredible raw numbers. Good design...

    Thrift Store Find-Windsor SMP 14

Fantastic machines I have a Versamatic, got it at a garage sale for $2. Poor thing had been beat to pulp but a little bit of TLC brought it back to life. Amazing how these can just keep going and going and going. There is a lot of clever engineering in the machines. I didn't fully...
