    Mid 1990s Bissell Upright Infomercial

Reminds me of the Regina "housekeeper" Didn't like those either, but they were lightweight for frail or older people I suppose. My grandmother used one, after her trusty 1940's Air Way Sanitizor became too heavy for her.

Today , I was gifted the newest Hoover ...

I have a genuine Hoover, made in the USA in Canton Ohio back in about 1996. A maroon red two stage 10.5 amp Lamb motor central vacuum. I've not yet had a cordless vac. I don't really need one. When I clean, I clean with every attachment one can need. I can reach above my kitchen cabinets and...

New "EU" vacuums have less suction than 30 year old vacuum!

Well of course todays engines last longer, run cleaner, need less tune ups, but other dynamics are not like they were in the 70's. An Oldsmobile V8 engine for example was as smooth after 100,000 miles as when it was new. Tolerances are much closer today, requiring better lubrication also...

New "EU" vacuums have less suction than 30 year old vacuum!

"when did screamers appear" About 1985 or so. When Eureka moved to plastic canister design on their Express line. Yes, on full speed, they are quite loud. A middle range dark red and white model was used by Allie Sheedy in "Maid to order" with Beverly Deangelo. I think Hoover switched to...

LITTLE BOY RIDING ATOP A HOOVER UPRIGHT VACUUM CLEANER

I know one who used the vacuum for a toilet in the closet when he was two or three years old.

Is the Aerus (electrolux) brand disappearing?

It appears to me the design, so likely the parts are shared with European Lux's and Aerus machines.

    Nice Hoover Dimension on Shopgoodwill

Nice Robert! I do, and would make the 2.5 hour drive, but am barred from any more vac's unless I build us a bigger house. Not happening. I just finished redoing this one to the 9's. I missed my opportunity years ago at a resale store in Ionia Michigan when I stopped on the way home from...

What's the best way to clean new laminate flooring?

Yes, I have one of those squared off Beam/E-Lux floor brushes. It's a good brush, has wheels and all, but doesn't get under my leather sofa, nor my vintage 80's Thomasville dresser or armoir without getting detached from the wand. It has no air way at the front brush edge like my generic one...

New "EU" vacuums have less suction than 30 year old vacuum!

Rule of 72? My brother in law is a CPA. $28,000 US in 1980 roughly equates to $72,000 in todays dollar value.

    Vacuum Cleaners on Match Game

One Matchgame '78 episode featured the Gold Eureka canned ham rotomatic power team as a prize for all the contestants. AB Electrolux already owned Eureka (1974). Not American Electrolux. A lot of people still don't know the difference.

New "EU" vacuums have less suction than 30 year old vacuum!

True Chris, A Kirby, Filter Queen, or a Rainbow costs upwards of a thousand dollars US. However, when our daughter purchased an Electrolux Oxygen 3 cylinder for $500 in 2010 that was a lot of money to them, as they were just starting out. It only lasted a few years. The cost to repair it was...

New "EU" vacuums have less suction than 30 year old vacuum!

It is most confusing, because global ecological initiatives were supposed to move us all away from a throw away society. Cars have lasted longer since the 1970's with world class quality, but other durable goods seem to not last as long, like vacuums, and other appliances. So is the global...

    Kirby of Wichita is gone

Seems they will need more door to door sales staff then?

What's the best way to clean new laminate flooring?

Newly introduced Bissel products are pricey. I bought a Lift-Off steam mop/cleaner which lasted three years only. I cleaned my master bath floor, and fixtures, kitchen floor, and range once monthly with it. Never again, I don't care how much Cathy Bissel donates to animal shelters. It costs...

    Rainbow Aussie Find

Um, ok, my city's police dept. bought Chevrolet (Holden) Caprices and they Love em! Rear drive, and European Opel lineage, just like the Commodore. Perhaps it was more the fact that less than a population of 25 million drivers just don't buy cars that often period, and they last a lot longer...

Re; 3'rd photo in reply #1. How can one flock a tree with Eureka Mobile Air with the hose on the suction side?

I wonder how many 1950s housewives loved their vacuum cleaners this much...

If the family budget is tight, most mom's would appreciate a Christmas gift that makes house work easier. Then they have more time to enjoy not doing it, so you can treat her to a dinner out, a movie, etc.

Can Your Vacuum Flock a Tree?

Aluminum tree; with a spinning color light. Yes, the news over dramatizes most events, but it is a cat. 3 storm still, and the Miami int., and FTL. airports are still idled.

Can Your Vacuum Flock a Tree?

Mike, as long as it isn't from a hurricane. Hope you are out of there, or at a shelter.
