First images of my NIB Electrolux model L!

RIP factory box Sad to say, the factory box was badly damaged in transit. One whole corner of it was torn open. The corners are reinforced, so it wasn't a minor bump. Fortunately the vacuum was double boxed and none of the contents was damaged. Since the factory box is holds part of the value...

First images of my NIB Electrolux model L!

Copyright date and motor changes Jon, the owner's manual is dated 1971. Regarding motors and their sounds, I've observed that the early L's sound significantly different from the later ones. I've been inside at least one early L with the same 14-pole, 28-bar armature as the G motor of the...

First images of my NIB Electrolux model L!

Keither, good to "meet you" I've always loved the sound of the L motor too, especially when there's a cordwinder because the exhaust door louvers change the sound to pretty much just rushing air. I listen to it and try to imagine how quiet a hospital G is. I have other Electroluxes that are...

First images of my NIB Electrolux model L!

Hello all, I just became the proud owner of a NIB Electrolux model L It's never been used, the original electric hose is airtight, and all accessories are as they came from the factory. The seller didn't have a new cordwinder, so he repainted one that was otherwise in excellent condition. I also...

Will 'lux plastic and metal wands interchange?

Thanks, and yes Mine has the non-electric plastic wands that flex slightly and remind me of the cheap 1-1/4" wands that come with wet-dry vacuums and flex even more.  I get why they're plastic, but c'mon let's at least reinforce them a little so they present the illusion of quality.   I...

    Aerus Lux Classic

Very happy for you, and I hope you enjoy it for a long time I write this because I recently purchased a near-mint Lux Classic from eBay, and although I admit it doesn't have the quality of the all-metal models, I'm still impressed and very happy with it.  So as not to hijack this thread, I'll...

    Hoover Aerodyne Model 51

Power compared to a full-sized Hoover tank of the period Hello, would this have the same performance as a full-sized Hoover tank machine of the same vintage, or would it have a smaller motor and was intended for quick, light clean-ups? I have little knowledge of the Hoovers of this period, so I...

    Older vacuum?

Way cool! If it's anything like the Doyle Vac-It at the gas station I worked at in the early 70s, it will have unremarkable water lift but tremendous airflow.  Looks like it uses a 2-1/2" hose, and the motor appears to have a separate cooling fan, which could mean it's a wet/dry machine.  If...

WTB - mint or near mint Electrolux teal model L

Dysonman1, never mind, we closed a deal I decided to bite the bullet and get the NIB teal L that vacman1961 was offering. Main unit and attachments never used, nearly new PN-1, airtight original electric hose. I do appreciate your offer to sell the one you've had since you were a child.  ...

    Finished my Central Vac install

Thanks for the inspiration My wife is currently writing a trilogy of novels.  If she gets published and we build our dream house, it will have a central vac.  Thanks for your observations/opinions.   Joel

Will 'lux plastic and metal wands interchange?

Greetings all, based on suggestions I received here, last night I purchased a very gently used Aerus Lux Classic vac.  It comes with plastic wands.  The business end of the hose is male and metal, just like the hoses for my all-metal 'lux vacs.  Can I sub metal wands for the plastic ones?  I...

WTB - mint or near mint Electrolux teal model L

Dysonman1, please respond Hi Tom, my conversations with vacman1961 aren't getting past the point of me saying yes.  Are you still willing to sell this vacuum?  Please respond with a price.  My email address is visible in my profile.  Thanks.   Joel

Kinds of motors used in Sunbeam vacuums

Thanks for setting me straight If anyone comes across either a Dual Deluxe motor or images of one, please post.  Except for our vacuums, which were Electrolux, for small appliances my mother was a die-hard Sunbeam fan.  We had a deep fryer, a Mixmaster Junior, a hosed hair dryer, two electric...

Kinds of motors used in Sunbeam vacuums

Hello all, just wondering what kind(s) of motors Sunbeam used in their vacs.  From searching old threads I gather they made their own motors that varied widely in quality.  Anyone have images to share?  I'd love to see them.  I thought of this thread because I once saw inside a Lewyt canister...

    1969 Electrolux 1205 motor question

Your Silverado motor Gvox,   If you have an early Silverado, its motor looks like a 1205 motor on steroids - longer, with a larger armature and field coil, but it can be serviced the same way.  Just FYI for when the day comes you need to do it.  Good luck with your 1205 motor.   Joel
