Buy A Direct Air You still have the opportunity to buy a "non-modern" machine that performs better, lasts longer, is easier and cheaper to service and costs less! You could get a Sanitaire SC888J for about $250.00. I can vouch for its durability. Or, for less than $150.00 shipped (credit...

    Best vacuum tools?

Only Own One Tool Other than a little used, two bit crevice tool, my favorite tool by default would be my Dyson 908877-10 Soft Dusting Brush. Ridiculously expensive, and proprietary, it does the job I hoped it would. http://home.woot.com/offers/soft-dusting-brush

Question About Metal Royal Uprights (Built Before 4/85)

Wow, Just Wow... I've had several of these apart, but never took note of the dimensions. If I remember correctly, and I might not, I don't think the newer ones are threaded at all, just the belt shaft. With enough ambition, and the right tools, you could get any fan to fit any machine. I...

Question About Metal Royal Uprights (Built Before 4/85)

Frankenstark Aren't the older fans threaded as well? Other than that, the size is pretty close. If that nine blade could be made to fit the threaded shaft, reducing its size would be easier and cheaper than getting a new fan housing.

How do I buy HEPA eureka f and g bags?

They Should Think Outside The (Big) Box Brick & mortar vacuum shops are too worried about competing with the big box stores, trying to sell the flavor of the month, gimmicky, plasti-vacs. They figure their edge is the service angle. Do they offer any models at all, like the one you're buying...

How do I buy HEPA eureka f and g bags?

No Wonder They're Going Out Of Business We have no vacuum shops in our area, which is the seventh largest retail center in all of Ohio. They just can't compete with the ever changing World Wide Web. They're stuck in a rut with old stock, old ideas and old business models...

    ROYAL COMPLAINT

Keep Modding If you're handy with wiring, just add a socket and plug. You'll have to sacrifice an extension cord, so try to find a used one with 16 gage two conductor if possible. http://www.ac-powercord.com/2_Conductor_Single_Outlet_Extension_Cords.htm#.U0k92FehGHQ

    IDEA!!!

Motor/ Vacuum Sources China, Hong Kong and Singapore all have the same voltage as the UK. Sanitaire Vacuum Motor 5.0 Amp OEM # 15943-1 is only $40.00 when you buy one from a retailer. You should be able to buy motors like that in bulk from one of those Asian producers for far less...

    IDEA!!!

The UK Market How about a Direct Air vacuum for the UK? That market is ripe for a vacuum that performs well and doesn't cost a fortune. How much would it cost to retrofit a 120VAC 60Hz Direct Air vacuum to run on 220VAC 50Hz? How much would a motor manufacturer charge for a lot of 500...

The Royal Metal Upright by Benjamin Edge & Jeff Schroff

No Book For Me Thanks Michael, but it seems any solution other than the genuine Adobe application is able to keep the text and image hyper-links intact. That's OK. Within the next week I'm going to polish it up a bit and leave it. It's hardly a book. It's just a compilation of Ben & Jeff's...

The Royal Metal Upright by Benjamin Edge & Jeff Schroff

Holy Encyclopedia, Batman! Gawd Ben, do you know as much about Kirbys? I can't imagine where you would find time to learn, with all you know about the Royal! This pdf is just an outline of what you could put to paper. I wish I could tell you, you'd have a marketable commodity if you wrote...

The Royal Metal Upright by Benjamin Edge & Jeff Schroff

Ten Days Left To Edit Updated the pdf a bit, but there's a lot more that can be done. For one, I'm trying to find some decent parts diagrams for the vintage machines from the 90's and older. The ones available at ereplacementparts.com are illegible. I've added a gorgeous one for the Model...

    IDEA!!!

Soup 'Em Up! Michael Dell got his start by taking budget machines, beefing them up, and selling them at a profit. Carroll Shelby turned an AC Ace into a Cobra. I think the Hoover CH50020 would make great bones for a tweaked machine. Well, that's the direction I would go, rather than the...

    IDEA!!!

Why Reinvent The Wheel? In the mid 70's Dyson bought a Hoover Junior vacuum cleaner and was disappointed by the "loss of suction". Rather than perfect or find a work around for that issue, he went through thousands of prototypes to replace it. Obviously, if the Hoover was that bad, it...

The Royal Metal Upright by Benjamin Edge & Jeff Schroff

Might As Well Keep It You've got money wrapped up in that unit now. If you replaced the roller brush, that's $25.00 and probably that much again for the balance of parts. If it had a light blue bag, it should have had a light blue belt cover. The newer bag should fit without modification...

The Royal Metal Upright by Benjamin Edge & Jeff Schroff

Whipped Again Stayed up too late last night, and struggled to be productive all day. Got home and blew through the polishing and assembly of the 880. It's pretty as can be, but I'm doubly spent now. Word does save as PDF, but only text hyperlinks function, not image links. Found out that's...

Hello, and HELP please for Vintage upright royal

That's A Wonderful Vintage Morning Thomas, Kevin and Ben, That transformer you'll need will cost as much or more than the vacuum. But, at least you can use it for other things. That vacuum is just a few hundred watts, so you won't need a monster transformer. Kevin, that vacuum is no longer...

The Royal Metal Upright by Benjamin Edge & Jeff Schroff

What A Day! Started this cold, dreary Monday with news that I might have dissed the owners of this site, got overwhelmed at work, spent 20 minutes in line at the post office for a damage claim, lost an Ebay auction for vintage parts I could have used... Then the tide turned. Took delivery of...
