    Electrolux Model G

Thanks! I wasn't the one asking the questions, but I certainly learned a lot by seeing the picture. I have learned just enough that I shouldn't go opening up / breaking into my cleaners because I never seem to get them back together correctly. Thanks for the thread. Jay

    Housewarming for Ben

Friends in Houston just moved to a new home. They became big Dyson fans while living in London, and their new house has lots of hard wood. To complement their Dysons I've added a Silverado. Harriet eat your heart out! Jay

    Alley Allert!! A cliffhanger...?

Dishwasher I've been tempted to clean vacuum attachments in the dishwasher. Is there a type of detergent I should use or more importantly, a type I should avoid? The dishwasher is a Sear-branded Bosch that has been superb. The attachments run the gamut. Thanks for your advice. Jay

    Vintage Eureka upright users...

Eureka brush rolls I remember those hard plastic strips. If you hit a floor register or something else hard, they can get dented and will even retain a sharp edge which then spins and cuts the carpet fibers. The Sanitaire metal rolls were much more effective and carpet friendly.

    Cleaning bare floors with uprights

That last thin layer of dust That last bit of microscopic dust that adheres to the surface needs to be mechanically wiped off the surface. That is why I don't just turn off the brushroll and try to rely on suction to clean the bare floor; I switch to a bare floor tool which brushes the dust...

Dyson: Can they really live up to what they say?

Integrity Well said, Sleepdoc. We all have opinions and need to be responsible for how we post them. I hope no feelings were irreparably harmed in the earlier discussions; we can all learn from this dialogue. We love vacuums, and we love to talk about them. When comments could influence...

    info on the Perfect vacuum

ImPERFECT Quality I bought a used Perfect canister Silverado look-alike. I was hoping for an upgraded Silverado and instead found it lacking. The solid feel of the older Electrolux was not copied very well. I pulled the electrical connector off the hose within minutes of operating it. Also...

    Weekend Vacuum Finds

Sears Best Seeing that "Sears Best" logo brings back memories of the prestige that that mark carried. Very cool to see these vacuums in your collection. I drooled over the Sears catalog for too many of my formative years--and mostly in the vacuum section. Ahem. Any more of that and I'll...

    Batman 1966 XXX Rated

Batman XXX This is from the original movie which came out between the first and second seasons. (Those words rolled off John's lips like he'd been studying the topic all week.)

    Batman 1966 XXX Rated

My partner John is a real Batman fan. I normally watch the movies with my laptop or a good book close by, but yesterday I happened to catch the Joker carrying his "Big Ben Distiller Total Dehydrator" which was a really cool use for an Electrolux XXX. They even had the hose attached to the...

    A couple more vacs!!!!

Scent of Electrolux I bought an identical tan G on Ebay a few years ago. It wasn't used very much. When I do use it, and I just did this evening for the first time in months, it has a peculiar odor--not unpleasant. It smells new, actually. I wonder if yours also has such an odor. Perhaps the...

    Hoover Building, London

Tesco? Was this visible from the Red Line? It has been a few years, but was Tesco using the building for a while? Or is there a Tesco nearby? What I'd do for Tesco plain chocolate, right now. Used to be 50p per large bar. But I digress. I'd rather vacuum.

    Dyson Convert

Very Happy It is with pleasure to post some pics and my impression of the Dyson DC 25 Blueprint Edition. Wow! I’ve been an Electrolux fan for some time, and there are good reasons for me to stay an Electrolux fan, but I’m now also a huge Dyson fan. I ordered the Dyson online, and it wasn’t...

    Ideal Vacuum Design

So, if I were to design the ideal vacuum.... The following features are a must: 1. Quiet--I like to be able to talk on the phone while vacuuming 2. Cord reel--wrapping a cord around and around is so, well, 20th century. And make the cord very long! 35 feet minimum. Stopping to find another...
