The Dyson mattress tool. Is it worth it?

Mattress Tool I bought one, and it is just a wider upholstery tool. Makes cleaning the couch and mattress go a bit faster, but it is not worth the extra price. I routinely vacuum the mattresses with the full sized Electrolux power nozzle. The mattresses have never suffered for it. And it is...

    Sturtevant central vac . HELP!

Hope someone can help you My partner and I used to live on Chandler's Rest in Lytham. We are Americans but lived four years in Lancashire and loved every single second of it, including seeing many shows at the Blackpool Grand Theatre. (Also had many fun times at Funny Girls.) Seeing your post...

Kirby Tradition like new rebuild and photo fun!

Well Done! I thought of you during the convention when we were given an excellent Kirby demonstration where it was disassembled down to the bearings, transmission, etc. by a Kirby-authorized repairman. He had all the tid-bits and factory know-how. Hope you can join us next year. You'll be...

    My Newest Canister Find

Careful with that attachment door We had that same model. The little tabs that hold the attachment door will break quite easily. The motor outlasted two hoses and two power nozzles. Finally dropped it off at Goodwill last year. Nice little reminder from my past. My mom bought it as a...

1987 Royal Brochure - Doctored Photo of 884?

Deodorizer Thanks for the explanation about the deodorizer. I've always loved this era of Royals. The blue. The curves of the wands. The on-off switch...sigh!

Headlight Deodorizer? Your attention to detail is amazing. What is meant by "deodorizer" and how did it work with the headlight? Jay

    Rug Doctor: I AM AMAZED!

Back to Rug Doctor Based on comments on this site, we rented a Rug Doctor for 24 hours last weekend. 41 bucks including cleaning solution from our local Kroger. It was a terrific machine. We had the carpet professionally cleaned a few years ago, and I had to go around on my hands and knees...

    Longevity Of Current Cleaners

ROC I just super-glued the Perfect canister's hose assembly back together. This vacuum is the Electrolux copy where they got everything right but the quality. We don't have to worry about the Chinese until they start copying Deming. Jay

Drooling Wow! Really impressive. How do you organize and store the accessories, bags, hoses, etc?

    Straight Suction Rug Tools!

Gleaner I used the Elux bare-floor tool on the nylon loop carpeting in my bedroom (one might say that such carpeting deserved to be destroyed) and destroyed it by dragging the floor tool across it with the gleaner on. I thought I was doing a good job, but I was combing the fibers to shreds. I...

    New Aerus Upright Vacuum

Echo thoughts on the Aerus uprights I had one of the Lux uprights with onboard tools. It also had a separate electric hose which was the direct-connect type for the electrical connection for the Sidekick. This was the best of both worlds for me. I could quickly pull out the wand to reach a...

    Complete Kirby Disassembly, (Help Topic)

Belt Lifter I did it without removing the belt lifter. Actually, that scared me a bit. I didn't think I'd ever get it back together if I had to take the belt lifter apart. So, I just kept trying different ways of partially attaching the spring and working the lens around it. When I finally...

    Complete Kirby Disassembly, (Help Topic)

Kirby Vis-A-Belt Got the new window in the mail today. That little plastic disk was tricky to replace, especially with my fat fingers. It took a few minutes to figure out how the spring held it in place, but I am happy to have it all working well again. Thanks for the advice. Jay

    Complete Kirby Disassembly, (Help Topic)

Thanks! Thanks to both of you for the good advice. I'll buy the lens, then see about replacing it. Thanks again. Sorry for my tardy reply. Jay

    My Awesome Find

Concept One At the convention, I won a blue Concept One Powerdrive in a raffle. It was my first experience with a Hoover upright, and I am very impressed. I love everything about it. The cord reel works well. The power drive is almost comical how fast it can go. And it really cleans well...

I purchased a new electric hose for metal bodied Luxes...(1205 up)

Perfect? Looks like the hose that came with my not-so-perfect Perfect canister. Can you tell whether it was made in China? I didn't have good luck with the hose--the screw holding the electrical business pulled out/stripped out within ten minutes. I might just superglue it in. The hose in...

    On Cord Retractors

Cord Retractors I am a big fan of cord retractors. I love how they keep the cord from getting tangled and how they keep the cord from being a tangled mess on the closet floor. Not having to wind and wind and wind is a great work saver. That said, it seems they could be a lot better. I...
