Activated Charcoal in Vacuum Bags (best ever!)

No, I mean a 1960 Kirby. A model 560 or something like that. Very old, very good.

Activated Charcoal in Vacuum Bags (best ever!)

I have multiple dogs. Charcoal in the bag doesn't work for the full bag. And don't pour it on the carpet and vacuum it up as it can stain the carpet. Anything with a scent I've used is vile. And even more so when it mixes with stinky vacuum odor. I like my bagged vacuums, but the Rainbow...

    Cleaning carpets (but not vacuuming)

I have used Zerorez several times and they've done a fantastic job getting out all the stains I coudln't get to budge with home methods (dogs). The two times I used them, it was years apart, and I got the same tech both times. So at least in his case, it must be a decent place to work...

Miele Complete C3 Electro Plus EcoLine

In my opinion, Miele really does make the nicest looking cylinder vac. I'd call it the Apple or Bose of Vacuums - and that's a compliment!

    Cleaning carpets (but not vacuuming)

+1 for the truck mounted cleaner. But for home cleaners, the best I've used is the H....r SteamVac. Also have the R..nb.w carpet cleaner and am not particularly impressed with that.

    Tacony Supralite/Freedom/M500..what are your thoughts?

I've been using one for several years now and love it. Cleans really well and is light and maneuverable. When I'm in a hurry, it's one of 2 go-to machines. Mine is the high end model and I very much like the lower speed for vacuuming pet hair off of dog beds, my bed and upholstery. Yes, it's...

Crazy to like my Shark Rotator Powered Lift Away?

Although I've never used the Shark, 2 of my friends have one and they both rave about it. While not vacuum fanatics, they've had higher end vacuums such as Miele, Oreck and Simplicity. I'm all for an easy to use vacuum, which is why I like my Riccar Supralight. WRT the lack of tools and...

    Simplicity Wonder canster vacuum review

@eurekaprince - as hard as it may be to believe, the Prima rolls too easily on hard floors which can cause it to smash into things, an the inability for it to go sideways is a big inconvenience. But another plus for the Prima is that it came with the best mini power nozzle I've ever used. I...

    Simplicity Wonder canster vacuum review

Having used Miele canister vacuums for almost 20 years and a Prima for the last 2, I think I'm qualified to comment on my experiences with the vacuum and about the review. I absolutely agree that the non-caster rear wheels on the Prima make it harder to maneuver than the Miele with it's 4...

My Arrival; Is The Bagged Power Nozzle Canister Market Dying?

@dysonman1 - is the tandem air Prima just a new power nozzle for the Prima? Can existing Prima's use this nozzle? When will it be available?

    Thinking about an Oreck

Not sure why anyone would think the light weight Tacony vacs are difficult to move around or don't clean bare floors well. I have one and it does great on both counts. Now a full sized, dual fan Tacony is another story. I found that thing to be a beast. And Kirbys, at least the ones before...

Another reason to love my Rainbow

@n0oxy - If you live in or near a reasonably sized city and have patience, Craigslist has a reasonable number of well priced E2's (the newest?). You can create a CL account and put a search that will email you when a new one is posted. I bought a brand new E2 a year or 2 ago and although it's...

    Aerus introduces a cordless upright

@dysonman1 - does the 1.5 lbs make a noticeable difference when pushing it back and forth? How is the sucking / grooming work vs. the corded model?

    Aerus introduces a cordless upright

Cordless weight @dysonman1 - How is the weight of the Tacony cordless vs. the corded version? I have the corded version (bought from here) and it's fantastic. One of (but hardly the only) reasons it's good is the light weight. If the cordless somehow manages to maintain the nimbleness of the...

    Handle Weight Tests

Kirby may have a light handle, but the older ones without tech drive are beasts to push. When adjusted so the just start 'locking down' on the run, they are hard to push. Couple that with the high height of the light and it makes me only want to use it when I want deep cleaning or just a...

    What A Conplete Marketing Fail!

Corldless vacs are OK but they still aren't ready to replace corded. As @gsheen states above, they can be nice for the quick cleanups - I use a Dyson V8 for this. But it isn't nearly as powerful as a good corded vac and the run time would not be long enough for a big house. Finally, a lot of...

Why I'm Concerned About The Future Of Kirby

And let's not forget what a bother it is to use the attachments. I have an old Kirby, pre-tech drive (560?) and it does a great job cleaning, but it's a bear to push and does not go under low items well.

    Cordless vacuum advice

Simplicity Freedom How heavy is the simplicity Freedom? I have the Riccar equivalent in corded, and must admit, if I could only have one vacuum, that might be the one. However, batteries add weight which would negate one aspect I appreciate about the Riccar - it's easy to move. And it's...

Pet Hair Tools That Really Work

I agree with Gary. Daily pet brushing helps a lot. I have 1 long and 1 short haired dogs, 50 and 70 lbs respectively. For some reason, dog hair does not get tangled around the brush. I'll second and third that turbo brushes are worthless and even some powered mini-brushes bog down. The...

    Cordless vacuum advice

I'll second the Dyson V8. I have it and it's great for quick cleanups on carpet, hard surfaces, and above floor cleaning. The floor heads are small enough to fit in tight spaces. No, it doesn't have shop vac power and can't clean like a good upright, but for the convenience of no cord and...
