I just compared it to the 561 manual that was also included in the box. They share a few picture, including the one on the cover. the 561 manual is definitely better constructed and thicker. They're both very pretty manuals! 

It came in the box of attachments for a Model 561, only it's definitely not the 561 manual! It's entirely black and white, and does not mention what model it's for anywhere. Did they stamp the attachments with KIRBY back then? None of them are stamped either. Any insight is appreciated!

Nice find! I love finding the original paperwork too! I bought a box of 561 attachments that came with TWO manuals. One for the 561, and a second 561 manual I've never seen before! It was fully black and white,I gotta scan it one of these days.

Nice! I saw one of these in a trash heap once, decided to grab it in the way back from the store. Came back only to find some scraper throwing it into his truck! I even tried buying it off the guy, but he didn't seem to speak a lick of English!   .....I still have nightmares to this day.....

That's a common problem, but a hard one too! Can a replacement release be sourced? If not, maybe you can restore the missing bit with some kind of strong epoxy? Good luck! 

Looking good! I'm sure they sell new clear fan covers (on the bottom of the machine, pretty sure they're called Kwik Klean or something!) If you want to swap that out    My Wards Widetrack has that two speed motor, didn't know it was rare! Mine was squeaky too when I first got it, wonder if...

Flip a coin!    Try the one with the bad housing, you're probably way more likely to damage the housing and not the brush if something goes awry!

12 hours?! I'm about ready to gas up the car and go after hearing that!  Vintage appliances AND 40-year-old abandoned buildings!? My kind of place!
