    My Nice Surprise!

So as some of you may have read, recently I purchased a Hoover Convertible Sears Brand Central model on Craigslist for $15. The machine was in beautiful cosmetic condition...but the motor, not so much. It would bog down and almost come to a halt as soon as the brush reached the carpet. Wanting...

Can someone walk me through on a Convertible? Is it normal to be hot and smell strange at first?

    Look what I found...

Oh wow! I wasnt aware of the blue version. That's really neat. I believe the brown version had the blender motor.

Streamlined motor hood... True! This particular model is a '76. It is a shame they didn't carry them on. I believe there was also a Eureka with a brown continental hood. I don't have one of those, but I believ I have seen them.

Steve I truly am blessed. She lets me do anything I like with no problem. She supports me in everything. While her true passion is vintage typewriters, she sees the value in old sweepers and knows quite a bit about them. She's found a number of machines for me and actually bought and surprised...

Thanks! I think it will too. The bag is full to the point of almost busting. Even the bag throat is full.

Kirby DS 50 Fan Case Housing Cleaning

That is most likely silicone to seal the fan casing. Make sure to re-apply new silicone when you reassemble the machine.

    Look what I found...

Went across the bridge to Indiana today. It is mine and my wife's 2nd anniversary and we spend it vac hunting lol. A match made in heaven. Got it for $25. Love it! Great machine.

    Fixing a Cracked Convertible Base?

Is there any way to fix a crack in a Convertible base? It's a hairline crack by the brushroll on the end with the square notch. Still works perfectly and I'm not sure this would even hurt anything...just curious. Rest of the vacuum is nice.

    Picking Up This Convertible Today

I also just realized the hood gets a little warm to the touch after running it for a bit.

    Picking Up This Convertible Today

Well, here it is. I got it for $15. It runs but the motor bogs down when you try to use it. New belt, new bag...the whole works. It sounds pretty good...and then once it hits the carpet, you can hear the pitch change. The machine itself is in very good condition. Hopefully I can get some motor...
