    Restored Westinghouse Upright

You beat me to it! The original plastic bushing had cracked. I plan on replacing it with a grommet when I get a chance. All of the steel parts had some kind of coating that turned to rust. Hours on the wire wheel took care of that. The cover above the strain relief was an example of this...

    Restored Westinghouse Upright

After going through the pile of vacuums that Jon Durfor didn't want, I snagged this Westinghouse Upright. Despite how bad it looked (Sorry. No before pictures), the machine was complete and the brushroll looked to have been rebristled. I took the thing apart down to the last screw as the...

    OMG What did I do?

Did any of the US models have a cord winder?

    Kirby Ultimate G Vacuum cleaner

I found a complete shampooer assembly with an unopened bottle of shampoo for $6.00 at a local thrift store.

What is the worst vacuum from the past 20-ish years?

The Oreck Magnesium with its remote controlled handle. Stupidest thing ever. They originally used a button battery and the modules would often fail. Later models have the switch hardwired where the upper cord hook sits but they're still garbage. If I have two of them on the bench next to each...

    Miele Powerhouse Belt

Thank you Kenny! Isn't the twin fan belt the same as the Elite belt 38528040? Happy Thanksgiving.

    Miele Powerhouse Belt

What kind of belt does a Panasonic built Miele Powerhouse use? I have tried the UB belts and they are WAY too wide. Is there a Panasonic belt that fits these since they built the machine? Mike

Thinking about sending a 1CR off to Kirby for a rebuild

The only reason it would sound like a Heritage is due to the lack of a metal fan. I rebuilt a 1CR myself years ago and replaced the metal fan with an amodel one since the metal fan was missing a blade. Kirby is also starting to discontinue many parts for the older models and who knows if they...

In Search Of A Whirlpool Hose

Figured It Out Took a 1.5 inch hose cuff and some 1.25 inch hose along with 1.5 inch chrome drain pipe. I drilled a hole to accommodate a Rainbow button lock. I did have to splice the power nozzle pigtail into a fitall cord so it would fit into the canister. This meant I also had to change...

Is this the right belt for Hoover Dimension 1000 S3277?

Post a pic of that clip.

    Kirby Dirt meter

Les, Do you have pictures of his polisher? I'm curious as to what he used.

In Search Of A Whirlpool Hose

Thank you Jimmy! I'm just curious what the ends looked like to see if I can replicate something. I'm planning on using regular 1.25 inch hose and an external cord like Rainbow units did.

Is this the right belt for Hoover Dimension 1000 S3277?

That is the correct belt. You might want to call your local vac stores so you don't have to pay shipping from a website. The part number of the individual belt is 38528-011 and the package of two is 40201045.

Bump Does anyone at least have a picture of what the original looked like?

    Hoover Dial-A-Matic U6041

This is one you don't really see often. I always admired how "Automatic Power Drive" is written in a cursive font. You also installed your filter retainer wire upside down. I have the blue U6039. What don't you like about the powerdrive?

    Model 519 modification

It does have Torx screws holding in the wheels which isn't original. They were originally flatblade screws. There's also no black trim that I'm aware of on 500 series units except for emptor trays, cords, and bag guards. I believe it's still the Sirocco Tan color. Like KirbyLux77 said, if...

    Hoover Concept parts machine.

Yes That is one of the arms that keeps the brushroll from touching the carpet. It sits on the transmission. Since that piece is broken off, the machine might sit lopsided when in the standing position but should be fine otherwise. Mike

I am looking for a hose for this Whirlpool Canister pictured below. I know the chances are slim to none but if anyone has something, please let me know. Mike

Can't really tell by the photos. Can you take a picture with some better lighting?

    Hoover Concept parts machine.

This is about a 2 minute job. If you look on the back of the wheel, there's three tabs holding the cover on. Press on them using your finger and they should come off fairly easily. You shouldn't need a screwdriver to remove them. Once those are off, you'll see an e-clip holding the wheel on...
