    Numatic dirty-fan upright?

Is that based off of some type of Goblin or Hotpoint? It has a very old look to it.

    The first USA Miele

Thanks for sharing! I remember that one well from my part time job at a vac shop in Raleigh in 1985. These arrived one day from Germany. The owner’s wife asked “how are we going to sell this?” The owner replied “first we better learn how pronounce it”. I was intrigued by its suction, full...

Belt for Samsun Quiet Stormn canister vacuum

Very briefly When these first hit the market, I could swear I remembered seeing them available in Canada with either a Sebo ET-C, or a Wessel-Werk EBK-280 variant power nozzle. Can anyone else confirm? I do realize that this was almost 20 years ago.

    Cirrus Unit Made By Tacony

Ultra premiums…… I’ll be glad when another brand makes a lightweight upright that does everything my R10P was supposed to do. I don’t trust the other brands just yet.

    The ‘Luxes and the ‘Tags

From the last era of "real Maytag"....... Those machines were phenomenal. My Mom had one bought new in 1983 and I remember it performing very well. The tub rusted through 18 years later and a shady Maytag technician convinced her that it was worth more as trade-in than with a replaced tub. I...

    vintage Whirlpool Vacuum on eBay

So what you’re saying is…. The black metal CVR upright that was a direct copy of the PowerMate was also a McDonald? I’ve only ever seen the McDonalds as the Gen2 version of the CVR with the plastic hood and handle release lever. I owned one of those black CVRs with the houndstooth looking...

    vintage Whirlpool Vacuum on eBay

Don’t quote me but… I think Whirlpool’s design was first because of similar models that were sold under the Kenmore name in the in the 1960’s. This is not my expertise and I’m sure someone will correct me.

    vintage Whirlpool Vacuum on eBay

My favorite kind too! I grew up with my grandmother’s Lux 1205. It was so ahead of its time.

    vintage Whirlpool Vacuum on eBay

And… Yours is in better shape too. That machine on eBay looked haggard and tired! Well good luck to the new owner. If he wants to source any replacement parts, he’ll need it. [this post was last edited: 8/16/2022-15:41]

    vintage Whirlpool Vacuum on eBay

RCA Whirlpool wanted to shut down the vacuum division This occurred after the limited success of Whirlpool’s CVR uprights, which were essentially a Kenmore PowerMate nozzle fitted with a fan blade for airflow. This is when David Oreck got his company off the ground and began selling the German...

    Forgotten Bissells

The Bissell Anna I only found one YouTube video of this machine. I’d love to have one of these.

    It’s vac in a year…Another canister

The ET-1 is well proven design. I think it’s well over 40 years old now but I’m sure improvements have been made.

    The late, Great Stan Kann

Stan Kann on the organ I just found quite a few videos on YouTube of Stan at the Fox Theater. He was fantastic! [this post was last edited: 8/12/2022-10:16]

Keeping history alive…. Tom, You’re such good steward of this collection. So much history in one room, certainly more than what remains in a defunct vacuum factory which is still struggling to reinvent itself as an office complex. I look forward to seeing these in person someday.

I don't see this ending well

That’s because it is It’s all TTI stuff. Seeing the Hoover name on these machines is about as meaningful as seeing the Bell and Howell name on “as seen on TV” merchandise. Oreck is also nothing more than licensed name.

    Has Miele changed hands?

Neither brand is safe from the cleaning lady.. My Capricorn’s hose handle has developed a short after years of domestic abuse. I’ve got both sizes of power nozzles. One has worn bristles and the other makes an incredible whiny/grinding noise. Needless to say, it’s for straight suction use only.

    $25,000 Hoover

And it’s a “Slimline”?!?! Oh FFS! A Slimline made in the 1980’s no less! That means it probably has that hideous rug/floor tool with the plastic cover and the vacuum is probably not in a vintage color combination original to its beginnings. Saw the seller’s profile and I’d love to know what...

What's your opinion on customizing old vac's?

That Kenmore is beautiful! Really makes me wish that some of you would post more videos to YouTube of your more unique machines. There's so much out there that I've never seen in person.
