    Royal 895 - Handle Assembly?

StanL Stan, The correct part number for the lower cord hook was part no. 1259316000. The problem is, it's bound to the lower handle tube with two rivets (1008241000). I did in fact find a complete handle assembly with the pigtail-style cord included (2088032200) on eBay, but the trim will be...

Did Royal Sell Its Machines Door to Door?

hygiene903 Jeff, As far as I am concerned, Health-Mor may have distributed the Scott & Fetzer Sanitation System for the Chicago-area market between 1928 and 1930, but that did not mean these particular examples were actually branded as Health-Mor Sanitation Systems? ~Ben

    Eureka 1981-1984 Animated Ad Campaign

Paul Ah, I recognize the name Bob Kurtz. He was one of the character designers of the original 1967 George of the Jungle cartoon series, the last Jay Ward Productions series to air on a broadcast network (ABC). ~Ben

Did Royal Sell Its Machines Door to Door?

While everybody knows that Kirby, more or less, is a company who sold their product door-to-door, I wonder if its fellow Cleveland-based competitor Royal did the same? ~Ben

    500 series kirby motor housing

vacuser Dwayne, What you want could be any of the 516 to Dual Sanitronic 80 motor shell housings. If it's one from a 562 Sanitronic or later, you could add a red handle lock button from a Classic III. ~Ben

    Holiday Inn Hoover Convertible?

AmtrakSebo1997 I read during the 1980s their Classic IIIs were replaced by rather cheap Hoover uprights whose cords were only 15 feet long! Very sad day then. Not long after that, the Hoovers were then subsequently replaced by the much better Sanitaire SC886 "Quick Kleen" uprights. ~Ben

    Holiday Inn Hoover Convertible?

AmtrakSebo1997 To be honest, I do not know if Kirby was their definitive choice of vacuum at the time. ~Ben

    Holiday Inn Hoover Convertible?

These special Hoover Convertibles likely replaced the old Kirby Classic IIIs they used to have back in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The Kirbys may have been well-built, but the people at Holiday Inn did not like having to shake the bag out after every single (yes, single) use of the machine...

Paul In reply #33 of this thread, I believe that the specific Hoover commercial upright may have been the U7037 "iron giant" imported from the U.K. ~Ben

Is a manual carpet sweeper worth it?

Electric Straight Suction Sweepers The good ol'-fashioned manual sweepers are a thing at family restaurants, because during peak times electric vacuums aren't used because their noise drowns out other sounds. That said, how many of you have thought of going back to using straight-suction...

    Kirby Legend ii accessories question

Human Edgar, Internationally (meaning in the U.K., the Republic of Ireland, continental Europe and Australia) the Legend II continued to be sold until 1992 as, for some reason, the 230V version of the G3 wasn't ready for sale when our 120V original was. Over there, those Legend IIs even had...

    Most unpleasant-sounding vacuum ever?

I will add my two pennies here: the 1995-2018 Royal metal uprights, when they switched to the drop-in motor units. These had a much more pronounced sound than the 1994 and older counterparts with the non-drop-in-type motors that you serviced piece-by-piece. Rob aka @kirbylux77: I agree...
