Ok, thanks I have just bought some new parts and they should be here by tomorrow. Thank goodness it doesn't need a new motor, Dysons are tricky! Also, the suction relief valve never seems to open if I block it, but it still has good suction so it must always be open. Anyway, thank you :).

I've noticed that other Dyson DC32 vacuums sound different to mine. Mine sounds quite choked and as I don't want to use a partially blown up Dyson as my daily driver.
